You need to bone up on car insurance.

Not to mention there is no 'popularity' in levels of car insurance...one insures for what needs and/or is required by the state in which they live.

For instance: if you have a lien on your car, i.e., you have a car note, you MUST CARRY COMPREHENSIVE by law.

AND all states require a minimum of LIABILITY insurance.

In UK.

No one cover is the most popular.

If the car is on Hire Purchase or a Loan from a Bank or similar institution they will insist on Comprehensive cover.

An old banger might be insured 'third party, fire and theft' but if involved in an accident, the cover would not be for the car being driven, especially if it was the fault of the driver holding such insurance. It would cover the other party.

It Depends on What vehicle do you want insured,
first go with what the law required you to have and then if you car is worth for full coverage,..Get it!!! if not keep the liability only.
also if you are financing the car,you will need to have the comp and coll coverage! witch makes a full coverage having it with liablity together.

3rd party,fire and theft
though if your car is worth bugger all, like less than the excess, third party is a bit cheaper.
I used to drive nothing worth more than £50,and I used "act only" insurance, but I dont think you can get that any more
