For the last several years I have been highlighting my naturally ashy blonde/light brown hair, sometimes a full, sometimes a partial.
Now when I straighten it (naturally curly) it looks like I have blotchy spots. my colorist thought a solution would be some low lights in the mix but it's still blotchy and now darker then I would have preferred.

I have been wondering if I should just have them color all over blonde and let that be that. What are the differences. I just want a consistently nice blonde shade that isn't too golden.

thanks!
xoxo

An all over blonde shade will look more unnatural than highlights, as natural hair has many different shades of a colour, especially with blonde hair as it is more obvious. I would, just as a one off, dye your hair all over to the closest colour of your natural blonde, and then get some high lights put in. Or perhaps let it just grow out, and then start again when you have your natural shade back.

Make sure you care properly for your hair after dyeing as this will dry it out. Use a deep conditioner treatment made for coloured hair.

Sounds to me like you need to have an all over blonde hair colour since you've had so many layers of highlights put in every time your hair has grown out.

Why don't you try just letting your hair be curly, and grow out the blonde? It worked for Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City (you can clearly see her roots, but it looks beachy and fun).

If you dye and bleach your hair too much, you WILL ruin it, and it will look like straw.

Do an all over base colour that is close to your natural colour to bring it all back to one colour, and then add in some highlights if you aren't afraid of your hair being damaged.

With high-lighted hair, the trick is to get ALL of the hair in that one long strand high-lighted or darkened as the case may be. If you go all-blond, then you won't have any high-lights or dark-lights(those darker strands of hair). Your stylist needs to remember to take ALL of one strand at a time and either darken it or lighten it for proper coloring effect!
