If you don't want to go to Iraq then stay out of my AF. The AF is a branch of the military contrary to what people think. We do deploy and fight in wars. So if you just want to join something for the benefits then stay out. Nothing is for free, if you want the benefits be prepared to pay for the with hard work and oh god for bid following orders to which means going to Iraq if need be.
OK I'm off my soapbox.

Meka,
The United States Armed Services are full of traditions, pride, courage, honor and valor. It takes dedication, motivation and self confidence to make this decision; it is not a calling for everyone but for those who have the fire within it is the most regarding decision of their life's.
No matter what branch of the armed services you join you will received great training, benefits, education, skills but most of all is the ability to believe in yourself, to strive and succeed, to never give up. The friends you meet will be ever lasting and the relationship with them will be that of brothers/sisters.
Whenever you join you must do so knowing that your mission is to protect the United States of America; uphold our way of life, liberties and freedom. The risk of receiving a tour of some war is likely at some point in your military career, whether it isn't Iraq it could be some other location at any given time.
The question is do you have the courage to defend our nation even if this means paying the ultimate price?
War isn't glamorous, it will never be; but it is our duty. We do it with courage and pride and take these values into everyday of our life's.
Only you will know if the decision is right for you. Read on all the branches, their diverse careers (MOS) and functions. If you decide to join do so within the branch that best suits your needs.
A little info:
The United States Marine Corps (HOORAH!!!) is the most military of all branches, followed by the United States Army, continued by the United States Navy.
Coast Guard and Air Force are the two least military of the branches.
The Air Force will be probably the closest to a civilian job, but remember it is still the Armed Services, you can not just quit your job and go home because you felt like it, heck you could be thrown in jail simply for being late to work.
No matter what service you join, you will be screamed at and treated like dirt (only while in boot-camp); you will be taught to fall and then get up and try again, taught that there are no limits except those you set for yourself, you will taught to overcome your fears and learn that NO just isn't an option. This will be the most character building, growing experience you will ever have.
If you have any questions Meka, please feel free to e-mail me I will gladly answer them. But remember this is a very personal decision that only you can take.
What ever your decision, I wish you the best of luck. If you decide to join I wish you great triumph, who knows maybe it could be you someday saving my life or the other way around.

The military is exciting, dangerous, fairly well paid, pensionable, open to promotion. You probably will have to go to Iraq. You always have a place to sleep and three meals a day, plenty of friends, ( maybe a few enemies as well). You`ll see the world, something to tell your grandchildren, on the whole I`d say go for it. What worries me is the bit about (Dont want to go to Iraq). That may be a problem for you.

No, unless you want to be used and abused and are a glutton
for punishment It probably would not be so bad if you did not have to go to Iraq. Please do not get me wrong, I do support our troops serving in Iraq but I do think they are being used under false pretenses It is the war that I object to. I think the Navy would be best, if I were to enlist that would be the branch I would choose.

I would strongly advise anyone against joining the military at this time, as long as there is a President in power who is as deceitful and reckless as Bush. Many U.S. soldiers are stuck in Iraq right now, in the middle of a near-civil war because of what Bush excused as "faulty intelligence." Fact is, if you join the military under the Bush Administration there is the possibility you will be sent to the desert to fight for oil.

I think the Air Force would be better, but you should wait if you don't want to go to Iraq.

If you're not willing to go to war, then don't join. No one wants to be here (ok well some crazy Marines and others like going to war but most of us don't) but we are here because that is our job. It is highly likely that you will deploy to a combat zone at some point in your career, so if you don't want to, stay out.
Any service is good for females, I personally prefer the Air Force.
EDIT: AAAAUGH, do you people know what percentage of people in the Air Force are pilots?? How are you so ignorant? Please disregard his comment; it is highly unlikely that you will become a pilot, unless that is something you want to do. If it is YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DO IT BEFORE! They will teach you everything you need to know. No prior knowledge/experience is needed before entering any military career field, which is one of the things that makes the military so great.

If you do not want to go to Iraq then DO NOT join. Becoming a member of the military means you may see combat and even if you don't deploy right away, you WILL see combat eventually.

Which militia? they have diverse age limits, i'm particular that the standard decrease is something like 36 years previous. in spite of the certainty that, you could evaluate what it particularly is the militia is at the instant doing and whether you pick to be a factor of that. Do you somewhat need to danger your neck for a united states of america like Afghanistan or Iraq, who by skill of how reject western effect and hate you. TBH, it is your existence (and limbs). Do with it as you please. the militia starting to be to be a member of age could be 40+ besides. youthful adult males are too rash.
