It is normal for elderly dogs to lose weight, make sure he's on a senior diet and that he is getting his recommended daily aloowance. Your vet will advise on any dietary changes if neccesary. If he's lively and eating well you shouldn't need to worry to much. Watch out for cardiac deterioration, symtoms such as exercise intolerance, dry cough. inappetance. Wet cough with a swollen tummy signifies that he's at the latter stages of his illness. I would recommend getting your pet checked every 3 months or sooner if you become worried. You can get special cardiac diets that have special balcnes of nutrients for dog with heart failure

If your vet is pleased and you trust your vet than whats all the fuss about???
Perhaps your dog was very over weight before goning on the medicine. It just may you taking some time to get used to looking at him now.
You are very lucky to still have your dog be so lively for being 14 years old. Count your blessings!

A 14 year old dog will start looking bony and show the signs of age. If the vet is pleased, then I'm sure he is fine.
Glad he is doing well

You didn't say what kind of dog or give his weight. Generally dogs under 30 pounds live up to twenty years and dogs weighing 75 lbs. or more usually live about 15 years.

sounds like you may need to chill out a bit, especially if the vet you have chosen and go to thinks that the dog is doing well.

His body might be adjusting to the medication. Try adding low sodium cream of chicken into is dog food and that will push him to eat more and it is more fatty. He should be fine if that is what the vet said....there is just an adjustment period.

hun, your dogs fine. Its just bony because its getting old kinda like a granmother or granfather: when the get old enogh they get bonier and their bones shrink because of lack of calicium.

Just make sure that the pooch is getting all the food he wants. That is elderly for a dog, so watch for deterioration -- particularly, loss of appetite.
