I just went ot a new doctor's office yesterday. I got along so well with the receptionist, both on the phone, and going in for the visit.
When the nurse practitioner asked her to look up psychiatrists- I have something like Social anxiety disorder-
she wouldn't even LOOK at me.
It's the third most common disorder in the country, and she may not have known what I told hte NP.
Still, I felt like saying: You absolutely laughed at my jokes and ADORED me, until you knew about this.
I just smile dto myslef and pitied her lack of compassion.
I must not have SAD so bad, hunh? LOL

Sure, I've felt it. Still, I find myself openly discussing it with people fairly often . I think many people just don't understand how crappy it can be at times when you're depressed, or have another condition that impairs your ability to interact socially the way you wish you could. I look at it this way: according to statistics, nearly EVERYONE gets depressed at least one time in their lives. When that happens, a person has a chance to truly experience what it's like, and I think they can appreciate the situation, hopefully gaining a little more maturity along with the experience.
