first take a little liquid smoke and brush it over your ham.... that way if it is fresh it will have the smoky flavor when done. wrap your ham tightly in heavy duty foil and bake in a 300 degrees oven for at least 6-8 hours. depends on the size of your ham. either insert a meat thermometer 425 degrees is good. if no thermometer cut closest to the bone if tender and no blood it is done. top with a little brown sugar or bbq sauce let bake 5 more minutes.

You say raw, but usually the term "ham" refers to pork meat that has been cured (cooked) at some point. A raw cut of pork that could be made into ham is usually termed a "picnic" or "butt."

So you make me think your ham is already cooked, in which case you dnt' need to cook it. Merely warm it up by the slice, if you want it hot. Or if you want to glaze it, you can use my favorite recipe, below.

Best Glazed Ham

1 (10 lb.) cured ham, bone-in

Glaze:
1½ c. brown sugar
3 tsp. spicy brown honey mustard
1 (8 oz.) can crushed pineapple with juice
4 dashes Tabasco
1 tsp. soy sauce
1 Tbsp. fresh sliced ginger
hand full of cloves

Soak ham in water for 2-3 hours changing water every 45 minutes. Pat dry. Place ham cut side down in large roasting pan. Score ham in X’s w/ sharp knife, and place whole cloves in scored corners. Place all glaze ingredients into blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Gently and slowly pour glaze over ham, making sure it is totally glazed. Bake 4 hours at 300ºF.. Tent with foil if browning too quickly during last hour.

first-- get a soup pot. put the whole ham in it, fill with water to cover the ham--(if only half covered, you'll have to turn it over after 25 minutes.)
bring it to a boil then turn it down & let it simmer for 45 minutes to an hour.
preheat your oven to 350. remove ham from water. remove the skin & score the top layer of fat into diamonds. push a whole clove into the intersections. put into a roasting pan. pour a mixture of about 11/2 cups of the simmer water, some syrup (anykind) brown sugar & dry mustard over the ham. cover & throw into the oven for 2 hours. baste often. if mixture thickens up too soon, pour 1/2 cup of water into the pan.

Buy a Reynolds oven bag put your ham along with your veggies like potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, ets and at the end of the baking time add a nice sauce along with pineapples and you have dinnerwith little mess. The bags are found along side of the foil in most grocery stores. Good luck, not sure what kind of sauce you like but you can look on recipe web to something you like. Enjoy!

Tempertaure wise I couldn't give you an exact number. I'd say 425 is good and check the internal temp until it reaches 160. In cookbooks your ham may be referred to as a "picnic shoulder".

It's essentially a pork roast. You can season it and/or marinate it, and roast it in the oven like any other roast. Long and slow over low heat is the best.
