Burning Fat With Green Tea
A positive effect researchers uncovered during the study was that green tea has fat-burning properties, which are related to a class of polyphenols called catechins. Catechins have been reported to have various physiological and pharmacological properties over the years and consist mainly of:
• Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) -- the main active component of tea polyphenol's biological activity, found to prevent and postpone the occurrence of Alzheimer dementia,
prevent and cure high blood lipid, arterisclerosis and erebral thrombus
• Epicatechin gallate
• Gallocatechin gallate
Researchers discovered the long-term consumption of green tea catechins was beneficial in offsetting the obesity-inducing effects of a high-fat diet, and that the effects could be attributed, partly, to the activation of hepatic lipid catabolism, involving the release of energy and resulting in the breakdown of complex materials. Further, while green tea does contain caffeine, evidence shows that the performance
enhancement seen through green tea consumption comes from catechins and not caffeine. (The American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory and Comparative Physiology November 24, 2004)
Green Tea possesses :
Anticancer, Anti-inflammatory, Antibacterial, Antiviral, and Metabolism enhancing properties. Green tea consumption may be one of the major reasons why the rate of cancer and heart disease is lower in Japan and other countries that routinely drink green tea. The typical amount of green tea consumption in tea-drinking cultures is roughly 3 cups per day. Three cups of green tea provide 240-320 milligrams of polyphenols, the compound believed to be responsible for the health benefits of green tea.
Remember though that you have to drink atleast eight cups a day before you will start to notice any difference. And like i said above, not only will it help you burn fat, it is also very nutritional.
Now about grapefruits and limes:
First of all, let me say that there is no scientific, objective study that claims that grapefruit helps you lose fat; however, many people think that you CAN lose weight with a grapefruit diet but how can you dispute tht because in that diet, all you do is drink alot of grapejuice and lower your portions! (something that anyone who wants to diet should do) so it's not a surprise that they lose weight by following the grapefruit diet. The grapefruit. a wonderful citrus fruit that contains vitamins (C, some B vitamins and mineral). It is also highly acidic and can cause stomach upset if eaten in large quantities. Grapefruit is an excellent source of simple carbohydrates that can supply quick bursts of energy as well as other fruits. However, Grapefruit has no fat-BURNING properties. It is true that if you eat a grapefruit instead of a balanced meal you will be reducing calories which can lead to weight loss, which can lead to weight loss with a catch (and like i said before, that is because if you dont eat, obviously you're gonna lose weight..doesnt matter if you drink grape juice or orange juice to replace your meals)
Both lemons and limes exude vitamin C, the antioxidant that helps fight heart disease, inflammation, and cancer. Moreover, lemons and limes contain phytochemicals, such as terpenes and limonenes, that may play a role in preventing some cancers. But just as above, they dont have any Fat-Burning substances/enzymes in them that magically help you lose weight
anyways, that was a good question..good luck!

Yes it is true, but not as much as some people make it out to be.
Studies found that green tea promote weight loss in several ways: burn fat, boost metabolism, block fat absorption and prevent fat storage.
A medium scale Taiwanese study provides the best evidence yet that green tea helps lose weight.
With more than 1,000 individuals took part in the questionnaire for more than 10 years. Researchers found that long term regular drinkers of green tea has significantly less fat.
A tea weight loss study conducted Dr Dulloo in the University of Geneva found that drinking a green tea extract beverage three times a day increases energy expenditure by 4%.
Is 4% too small to make any difference?
If you burn 2,000 calorie a day, this translates to 80 calories, roughly the same amount of calories in a small banana. It is no magic bullet.
But increasing metabolism is not the only way green tea helps lose weight. It also promotes fat burning and reduces absorption and storage of fat. The sum total of these actions has not yet been quantified, but is likely to be significant.
It is not just 4%, but something greater.
Drink green tea to get its health benefits (see second link), and treat weight loss as an additional bonus.
Hope it helps :)

There is many positive thing being said about green tea...... it is an anit-oxidant and apparently can help you loose weight. Grapefruit is a diuretic which does not help you loose fat but release water so to speak.
