Jen: that is a pretty dumb comparison because you are bound to find in all countries with all relgions, women who go hog mad and kills all her children,
also, is it part of the religion to molest children? there again, that will be something that molesters do across the board, in all religions,
However, keeping on topic, like you didn't,
where is it part of a Chrisitians RELIGION to actually not just harm your child, but to kill them?

Well, dear, there are differences in cultures and certain religions....and more so it is the culture not the religion wherein this happens...
Many Far East people who still practice the 'old' ways, kill in the name of 'honor'....as do others in the Middle East and in other countries of the continent of Africa.
Are you not at least equally concerned about the numbers of parents who kill their children in this country [so called Christian people] 'just because' ? And what about the US 'christian' parents who commit incest with their children?...or beat them...or lock them/chain them in closets? Or do you read/hear the DAILY news of these atrocities. Before criticizing those whose cultures have taught such backwards acts as 'honor killings' let's start first with folk who are home grown, 'christian' good ole Americans.
The US has an alarmingly high rate of child abuse and it occurs in all economic and social classes.

Every day, I hear of some Christian killing their kid. It's in the news every damned day, right? This is a Christian nation, right? And don't they all start spouting off their 'I'm sorry, I've found God' nonsense once they're in prison? Also, you're confusing cultural convention with religion here, as regards the honor killings.
Buy some books. It couldn't hurt.
Edit: I'm gonna find you some of the Bible quotes that command the actual killing of children in about 10 minutes. I have to make my child something to eat, but I promise you I won't forget.

Well, the media does not cover it very much. NPR ran a story about two weeks ago on how Jordan keeps track of such things, but a recent killing of a girl in rural Italy who was having pre-marital sex was covered up and the not well-reported.
A nun was recently convicted on crimes against humanity and genocide charges for her involvement in the execution of unmarried pregnant women in Rwanda in the 90's.
Rev. Golden was convicted back in November for killing his wife for failing to do her wifely duties, as commanded but the Bible (in his opinion).
In the UK, the parents of Victoria Climbie had their church torture and kill her, because she was not being a good Christian. A report released on June 21, 2005 by Scotland Yard stated that there were an estimated 300 Christian Churches in the UK that engaged in child murder as part of their religion.
In Indonesia, Christians frequently kill children (their own or otherwise) for various reasons. It was actually part of the reason why Indonesia's anti-child conversion laws were written, because of a few high profile cases of Christians, whose teenagers converted to Islam (usually for a bf/gf), were killing their own children.
In 2003, in Australia, John Allen Angeles killed his wife and stepdaughter because his wife was having an afair and he felt adultry was punishable by death and he gave some Biblical reasoning for the killing of the girl.
There was John Battaglia in Texas who killed his two daughters and gave them not honouring their father as a reason. One of them talked to their mother on the phone and the other apparently refused, so he killed her and then the other when she told him not to kill the first one. His wife stayed with him for years despite him being abusive because it was God's will. They were Christian.
Additionally, if you take a look at the Bible, you see such passages as Psalm 137:9, which states ט אשרי שיאחז ונפץ את-עלליך-- אל-הסלע , which means "Blessed shall he be, he who taketh thy suckling infants and dasheth them against jagged rocks." This could easily be used as a basis for killing children, and it has.

no your friendly god fearing christian murderer would chose a better class of excuse than that, right? r we just looking for yet another reason to bash Muslims or do u actually think ur religion is perfect?I think any killing no matter wot the reason is wrong and asking such a question is insightful of good old fashioned religious bigotry The number one reason for wars And how many people die for honour then?

Are you trying to say that Christianity is "better" than
other religions? More civilized?
You are judging things from either a Christian
or a non-religious point of view - and my proof is
simple: Americans regularly let their daughters
go around in public showing their faces and ankles.

when was the last time a muslim priest molested young boys? i agree that honour killings are horrible, but don't go trying to say christianity is any better than that religion! how many wars have been started by christians? hitler was a christian! how many pagans did the christians kill during roman times? how many witches were stoned, burned, or drowned by christians in the burning times? this is a problem that christianity has, undeserved EGO!

Christians do not kill their daughters for family honour and people who say they do, are mislead or out right "stringing the beans". That is not to say that Christians have not killed a family member or someone else, but it is certainly not a part of Christian thinking. I have to laugh at all these folks who say Christians kill and enslave people, like atheist have never done this. Like their segment of society is pure and sinless. I bet half the people who owned slaves in America were NOT true Christians.

Danielle, how is Andrea Yates " Abraham revisited"? Abraham stopped short of killing Isaac. (And he NEVER killed Ishmael.) And the same God who told Abraham to kill Isaac in the first place told Abraham NOT to kill Isaac.
Rosbif, Abraham did NOT murder his own son to honor God. He was about to sacrifice his son, Isaac, when God told him at the last minute to stop. The story is as follows :
To be brief, Abraham had "high hopes" for Isaac. Then God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham did not want to do this, but he obeyed God. He and Isaac and a servant went to the mountain that God had directed. Abraham and Isaac went to where the sacrifice was to take place. Abraham bound his son to the altar and was about to plunge the sacrificial knife into Isaac's heart, when God told Abraham not to sacrifice his son. If Abraham HAD killed Isaac, there would very likely not be any Jews today.

When ever you hear of a "Christian" killing someone, as in not-justified by American law, then figure this IS NOT A CHRISTIAN at all, but in name ONLY. Just because someone is an American, doesn't make him a Christian as most of the world assumes.

I can't remember the last time a news report mentioned the religious affiliation of the suspect, unless that suspect was a member of the clergy.
