Can anybody please tell me how to get rid of these ugly things from my daughters head. She has had them on and off now for 1 year and with constant combing and all the over the counter remedies, nothing has worked. Any Ideas would be much appreciated.

A bottle of conditioner and a fine tooth comb...every night for 2 weeks! And make sure you do the rest of the family too, otherwise you will be continually reinfecting each other!

Ok, one thing some people overlook is washing the pillow cases, blankets, sheets, stuffed animals, coats, hats in hot water and a hot dryer. Also, vacuum all the floors and soak all combs and brushes in hot water. Use a lice killing shampoo to kill the actual bugs. Then you have to patiently sit and pick out all the eggs (nits) one by one with your fingernails. The combs don't do it. This is gonna REALLY gross you out, but I've heard of the bugs laying eggs in the kid's ears and then when you think you've gotten it all, they lay the eggs in the ears and come back again. Also, if wherever the child is getting it does not take care of getting rid of them (like grandmas house, friends house, school)then it will come back again. Like if the child sleeps at grandmas house but she doesnt clean like you do, then your child will get it back again, same with a friends house and school. Have you noticed the kids all stick their coats together? The bugs can crawl from one coat to another. Also, don't forget your car seats and the babysitters or daycare. Tell everyone and don't be ashamed. You need to tell them, so they are aware and can tell all the other kids parents, so the problem can be taken care of. If you don't tell all the parents that your kids have had contact with, and your child gave them lice, or vice versa, how will the problem ever end? Everybody always tries to keep this a secret, that's why it keeps coming back.

Treat everything in your home!!! Use bedding spray on your couches, mattresses, carpets, car interior, anything that can't be put in the washer. Try using tea tree oil they sell it at your local drug store in little brown bottles mix it half and half with conditioner and leave it on her head for about ten minute then rinse it out really really well and wash with shampoo also use a hair dryer (on her ever time you dry her hair with heat.) then comb it and continue to comb it daily for at least two weeks Also tell her school and daycare if they aren't already informed so she doesn't keep going back into the festation. I had friend who watched my daughter for me maybe once or twice a month and we had an on going lice problem, and I knew her children also had it and she wouldn't do anything about it finally I stopped letting her watch my children and we haven't had it since. Also If she's in kinder garden it spreads like wild fire in kinder garden for some reason. I hope some of that helped, and GOOD LUCK!

We have 7 children in our house under the age of 11 and we have seen our fair share of headlice, they were driving us mental.. Once we eradicated them, then we found the best solution to prevent them from ever coming back...In a spray bottle put warm water, conditioner and tea-tree oil, shake it up and spray your daughters hair with it every morning before school, (style as usual).. Another way is to buy a spray preventative from the chemist and put some of it into your conditioned spray bottle, works just as well... Our kids haven't had headlice/nits for for over 12 months now (knock on wood)..
By the way, spray the inside of your child's school hat too, just for the extra protection..
Good Luck

Your gonna think I'm crazy but put baby oil on their heads just like if you was washing it .Leave it on for 20 or 30 min, then comb it through and comb the eggs and bugs out. Then wash it out.You might have to do it a couple of times but it will work.My neice used to get it all the time from school, and my sister in law used it.When you get rid of it put hairspray in their hair, don't like dirty hair, they like clean hair.Good luck getting rid of it.

Well, once you kill them, you need to disinfect everything in your home!! Bed sheets, clothes, throw out brushes spray down couches, and rugs!! Espescially in her room!! Maybe you need a more powerful medication also, call your family doctor.

Best Wishes
