I have similar pain in my neck, some days I can not turn it to right even a little bit. I had an MRI done, and I have a pinched nerve and herniated discs. Talk with a doctor ASAP
Good luck.

I have been having this pain alot here lately myself!Muscle relaxers haven't worked either. It seems to go away eventually & then return.
I believe it is from my existing condition, called fibromyalgia.
There is no explaination for this disease, but it can be very debilitating & strike at anytime.
Some doctors still don't believe it is a real disease. They say it is mental.
The best thing to do is just stay still & quiet,as when you have a migraine.Myself,I am on pain killers also.A very hateful & tedious thing! This disease has robbed me of a life & makes others think I am a drug addict! Most doctors refuse to treat me or give me my medications.Pain management specialists will not accept my insurance & I have had to drive an hour each way now to see my old doctor who will at least give me my meds.
A hot pad also helps & a hot shower.I know this is not easy when you have an active life.
I will pray for your recovery. Please do go to the doctor though. It could be a simple nerve irritation that is taking longer to heal.
Best of good things to you!

After 3 cervical spine surgeries myself, I have a bit of knowledge. Your Dr should start with a CT scan, although an MRI is more definitive. I did this...and it showed exactly my problem. Try ice instead of heat, avoid heavy lifting and basically just take it easy the next few days. Advil or Motrin is better than Tylenol, aspirin is good to. Tylen is not an anti-inflammmatory so it will simply releve pain. Use the Motrin around the clock and if still in pain after a few days...see your MD. See MD immediately if you get tingling or numbness in your fingers or numbness or loss of strength in either arm. Any questions...you can contact me at djmcw@Yahoo.com. I'd be interested to see how you do.

Best to go to the doctor to find out what caused it. Usually from wrong posture (or same posture throughout the day) or trauma such as from a car accident or similar. If he gives any medication or invasive procedures, ask first if Physical Therapy would help. Actually, you can go to any PT office and ask what's causing it. If they're kind enough, they'll answer your question w/o charging you or even your insurance (until you are formally evaluated by the PT).
You may also want to ask for exercises (usually stretching) that would alleviate the pain.

Get to a Chiropractor and get your body alignment straightened out. When nerves get pinched by vertebrae misalignment, IT HURTS.
One or two adjustments and you should feel normal again and pain free.
I have gone to Chiropractors for about 60 years for a multitude of problems and it always either helps or goes away totally.

Find a good chiropractor. They will x-ray to make sure their are no abnormalties, and adjust your neck and spine so that they are in alignment. I know all the pros and cons of chiropractic care, if you choose to go see one, and you get relief, then just tell them you'll come back if and only if you need to. Not all of them expect you to come back three times a week! Find those kinds.

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Try out some home remedies. You can also look for information in the web that give you home remedies. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html
