Only if you tell theists, then they will shun you, otherwise, you can't burn a bridge that doesn't exist, and connects to nothing.

Look at all these people using threats to promote what they believe in. That's all religion has any more, fear. That's how religion tries to control people is through fear. I almost would contribute it to a form a brainwashing. Especially on young children. Tell them the will spend eternity in pain and hell. Get real folks, religion is a form of control and an effort to explain the unexplainable. For as long as humans have been on the earth, when we can't explain why something happens, it must be the work of a god. The bible is a bunch of stories that make absolutely no sense and not practical. It was written 2,000 years ago, translated over and over again and you still have people out there that base their whole existence on it. Church is nothing more than big business now days. Society is becoming more excepting of people who have different beliefs and will take time as this country is so caught up in religion. Most are afraid to say they don't believe in god because they will be looked down upon.

It's ok not to believe. In fact, it may even be the truth. It's also one of the most difficult paths, once chosen, to maintain, especially in times of want, hurt, pain or indecision. I know this may sound trite but, you can start to live your life at any time with or without a divine guide. You can give meaning to your life no matter whose bridges you think you are burning them from. What it really means and what it comes down to is that we, and only we, are responsible for our own actions, our words and our thoughts.

Read the atheists wager then ask yourself the same question
You should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in God. If there is no God, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind. If there is a benevolent God, he will judge you on your merits and not just on whether or not you believed in him.

Just by the way you phrased the question proofs that you want to believe. You chose a uppercase G!!! ...Saul, who would become the apostle Paul, once was a persecute of Christians. On the way to Damascus, he heard a voice saying "Saul why do you persecute me?" Saul replied "who are you, Lord?" So you see, he knew without being told.... The truth is God is God whether you believe or not? If you open your doors, and invite him in, he will show you!!!
