In all of this excitement with broken dishes, bloody noses, and police officers showing up, what are the chances that the waiter or waitress would forget that you still haven't paid for your dinner?

Or would they let you get away with it since it's quite likely that you can't get your wallet or card out while wearing handcuffs anyways?

I've been a waitress in that situation before. when the customer doesn't pay we have to cover the loss out of tips. So the last thing I would ever let them do is just waltz out the door with my money. All I did was tell the cops. Here in Canada our boys in blue really won't put up with the service industry being crapped on. They kindly remove the wallet from the guys pocket and would not only pay me but also give me a great tip.

You know what. i don't think that you would have to pay! You're right with all that excitement of broken dishes and broken noses and all the noise and chaos i don't think the waiter or waitress would remember that you have to pay. If anything the waiters would step away from you so not to get hit and by the time the cops get you and have you cuffed the waiters would be to in shock to even remember that you didn't pay.

( Hope school is going well for you) :)

It depends on a few factors - first of all whether the restaurant feels getting a customers money is more important than the fact that customer is a trouble causer. Let me put this in context for you. If you were in an all night takeaway where all the drunks go after hours then this sort of activity would be a regular occurrence and the restaurant probably would not be in a position to lose the money, especially if it regularly occurs the restaurant could stand to lose alot of money. However if you were in a top class restaurant they could afford the loss of money over the 'bad name' of having to chase after bad payers. They would want to get you out of there as quickly as possible.

Therefore I guess it depends on the kind of establishments you eat in, the reasons behind the fight and your own code of honour regarding meals eaten!

Its quite likely that you would have to pay not only for the meal but for all the other damage you did such as broken dishes, other patrons dinners ruined. And don't forget if I were the owner I would press charges for you tearing up my restaurant and causing me to lose money. So there, no free meal if you start a fight.

What are you onto? Want to skimp a meal because you're involved in a fight? Why fight in a public place in the first place? People go there to relax and enjoy a meal away from home, not to be upset by riff raff.

Show your integrity and pay the meal as well as all the damages that you caused. Next time hang out at your dives in the dark corners of town amongst your kind.

You might likely get away without having to pay. But if
I owned the restaurant, I'd have a bill for everything taped to your jail cell and make sure I got my money when you get
out. Your spending time in jail won't pay my expenses
and neither will the police.

how about you go start a fight and let us know. Having managed a restaurant and bar when a fight breaks out you just tell the cops that the moron in the backseat of his car owes you money and they can usually arrange to get it paid for. in some cases the guys have come back in cuffs to do use their debit cards. other times we would just write the meal off to get rid of the situation. it really depends on the restaurants policy.

You probably wont have to pay, but you'll lose much more, would'nt you. First of all you would get a ticket which does way more than paying 30-40 dollars at a restaurant. Also their is court, and last of all probation.

I think you would still have to pay the bill...I think they would probably say in addition to the fine, you must pay whatever amount you owe for the meal too. You ordered it, why shouldn't you have to pay for it too!?
