first of all, i truly hope you're not asking because this has happened to you or someone close to you because that is a horrible thing to have to go through.
but secondly, after reading all of the different answers, it's no wonder why so many people think organized religion is a farce!

God said that we are ALL born in sin because of Adam and yes He sees them as innocent but still sinful and God can NOT tolerate ANY sin. Maybe because He knows everything He already knows what that choice would have been and then judges on that but we won't know until we get to Heaven...but please don't confuse salvation with baptism...baptism is an outward sign to the world that you have decided to follow Christ. A baby being baptized is nothing more than a cleaner baby. That baby did not make any decision, the parents decided. And that decision won't hold up in front of God. Salvation is what determines where your soul will spend eternity and we have to know that a just God has a just answer for your question. There are many scriptures that talk about the way God feels about infants and children and that their angels continually see the face of God but there is no concrete word to answer your question.

nicely, for an prolonged time the Church grew to become into no longer great on baptizing babies. Then that replaced. I wanna say around the 5th century whether it could have been lots later. relatively, after a female gave delivery she could no longer enter the church. It grew to become a fashion for the youngster to be reborn by way of a guy. I did that. I wish that i could inform you an much less annoying thank you to navigate by way of it. there is a great line between status your floor and in some unspecified time sooner or later pissing human beings off. i did no longer locate it. that style of concern calls for experience and that i did no longer have it. I nevertheless sense that it grew to become into the superb suited decision. I in basic terms wish i did no longer butcher it as badly as I did. those are all rituals and that i think of that some human beings may be extra enamored with the ritual itself. So, possibly it particularly is achievable to grant a diverse form of formality without the non secular components. Like a welcoming gig. possibly a meeting a million/2 way. It relies upon on the flexibility of your in-rules.

Baptizing babies before their age of understanding doesn't do anything for God or their salvation for that matter. That's just another pagan ritual of a false church. It doesn't matter if it's a baby or not, every-body's soul goes to the grave "Hades" merely to "sleep" until the return of Jesus Christ. The only mortal soul that has ever lived and died that is in heaven is Jesus Christ. Upon His return He will resurrect the dead either to be judged for their unrepentant sins or those who are the saints in Christ who will not be judged but will inherit the Kingdom of God. Everyone who has ever lived and died (including babies and those who were too young to understand) who have never understood nor heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ, will have their first opportunity for their salvation in the great White Throne Judgment at the end of the Millennium rein of Jesus Christ in the Kingdom of God on earth. These include victims of genocide who have never had the chance, pagan practices who were blind to the teachings of Christ, people who were in remote areas of the world who were never reached or those who have just never been exposed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They will be resurrected from the grave and taught the ways of God, and will have their chance to become saints in the Kingdom of God.

Infants are innocent to God and their spirits go back to their Heavenly Father and enter into Heaven clean and pure as the day they were born. The notion of original sin tainting each and every one of us at birth is false and foolish. Adam and Eve did not stain all of their children with their transgression. They were responsible for their mistake and brought about mortality and our existence. We are also responsible for our own mistakes. Children learn from their parents and when they are old enough they become responsible for their own choices like everybody else. They are not responsible as little children. No mother, or father for that matter, can hold their infant in their arms and declare with a straight face that their child is sinful. Christ's atonement is sufficient for them and He brings all of them back into the Father's presence without need for repentance or baptism. There is no sin to wash away, so those principles and ordinances are unnecessary. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

I dont know for sure, but i would guess that if s/he was really young, like too young to open its eyes, it would be reborn and given another chance. In eastern orthodox christianity, they believe that the sould doesnt enter the baby until s/he is five, but i had too much of a personality when i was three to not have a soul.

According to Catholics, it goes to a place called limbo, where they stay until the end of the world, when God brings all them back to him.

Protestant and Orthodox denominations do not accept the term "limbo", but what they believe is essentially the same thing, as most Orthodox and Protestants believe that the dead are unconcious (or even nonexistent) until Judgement Day, when they are revived for Judgement. Since during this time, there is no reward or punishment, it's basically the same thing as the Roman Catholic idea of the Children's Limbo.

Babies are exempt from the whole sin thing because they just don't know any better. Same for children. And I mean that some kids who commit crimes even murder are not old enough emotionally to appreciate what they did. I don't believe people should be baptised until they decide to. So, the children are not without soul.Their soul goes with them.

im catholic and have been taught that unbaptised babies soul goes to limbo and i just refuse the believe that a soul that is a clean slate, born without sin and too young to commit sin consciously, could be condemded to an eternity of nothingness.

i would like to believe that they are recycled back into humanity to get a chance to live, to make their choices and have the same attempt as all of us to be a good person.

What I was told while I was in Catholic school, by my Theology teacher...a priest, is that when that happens the baby goes to purgatory until the end of times when god then sorts out the souls.

I always asked how that was fair and was told that it wasn't fair, but the child still had the "original sin" and therefore was not admitted to heaven.
