I'm having cataract surgery this Tuesday and I need to get rid of this. I'll be getting Vitamin C today and loading up on that and drinkiing a lot of fluids along with just resting, but is there anything else I can do to speed up the process? Or if there is a medical person out there who can tell me if my doctor will still do the surgery even with the cold. My throat hurts so bad that it hurts just to drink water. No fever though, thank goodness.

when ever Im getting a cold or already have it I take theraful. Its an over the counter medicated tea (taste is ok). It seriously cuts the cold of by overnight. Im not kidding you. It will get you drowsy as hell so take it right before bed and you will be 80%+ in the morning. Then take one the next day. Try it the box of 6 tea packets is like $4.00. Its in the cold medicine dept.

You can try taking Airborne ...if you are in the US, most drug stores carry it. They are effervescent tablets with lots of enzymes and vitamins etc. Work pretty good at reducing the length and severity of a cold.

As far as having surgery if you are ill...I don't know for sure, but probably as long as you are not running a fever they would go ahead. You should call the doctor on Monday though if you are still not feeling well, just in case.

You should be able to go ahead and have your surgery. As long as you can lay flat for about 10-15 minutes without coughing a lot you should be okay. Just remember if you have to cough or clear your throat to let the doctor now so he can stop what he is doing.

Yes, yoga.
Strecthing your neck, etc, will help your sinuses drain. THey can't drain so much when you're all restricted- and you'll get restricted from just laying there. You need to loosen up.

MDs say there is no cure for the common cold. This site below has the quickest way to get over colds and flus. Then it will be up to you to cure it (does not involve supplements).
