As a man, let me answer.
My wife does most of the shopping for the family, but there have been times I've had to pick things up. We have a standing agreement: if what I pick up matches her written description, then she doesn't complain or correct.
I've known too many girls that freak out because their husband/boyfriend/guy friend didn't know the difference between the different brands.
I had one girlfriend that asked me to pick some up once. I don't remember the color of the box, but she asked for a certain color of box. I got something that had that color of box, and she freaked out because it was wrong (somehow... I didn't and still don't understand how.) It matched her description. If I were to suddenly find myself single again, I would not buy them for a girlfriend unless/until she agreed to the same terms, and one mistake on this regard and she would be gone! Every time I go to pick them up, I get dirty looks from the girls that are there doing the same thing. It's the same dirty looks I get from the high school girls that are also there to pick up birth control when I pick up my wife's pills. If I'm going to put myself out on a limb for people to ridicule, then I will *not* be disrespected for my efforts.
It sounds like you are very good to your husband, the same as my wife is to me. But you and my wife are the exception, and the average girl is not worth it.

I will buy my wife pads, tampons, rolls of paper towel, whatever she needs. The only time anyone at the store ever gave me grief I told them I get really bad nosebleeds.

Any guy who won't buy his girlfriend/wife pads is either insecure and worried about what others will think of him if they see him, or he just thinks that "periods" are really disgusting and want nothing to do with it.

I don't wear pads b/c they feel like diapers..gross. But yes, my fiance buys me tampons b/c I'm too embarrassed to. I feel like everyone in the store is gonna know I'm on the rag and that's really no ones business. I'm wierd like that.

Yes, he would, but he has trouble remembering brand names, so he would probably come back with the wrong kind unless I wrote it down for him.
