First off, try not to worry or be nervous. I know that seems hard not to, but the more you worry and the more nervous you are, the scarier it'll be. I believe that knowledge is key, and once you know the procedure it'll be a lot less scarier for you.

Make sure you get to the airport with plenty of time to check in, go through security, and fine your concourse and gate. Rule of thumb is to allow yourself 2-5 hours before your flight. Call the airport ahead of schedule to see what their wait time is for that specific day.

Make sure you have all your documents with you (picture ID or passport, visa if needed, and ticket). Also make sure that you are not taking any forbidden items with you. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

Now you are ready for your flight!

When you taxi, you barely feel the plane move at all. At this point the cabin crew will tell you all you need to know about what to do in case of emergencies and such.

When the plane prepares for liftoff, it starts to go really fast down the runway, and then within 45 seconds you are up in the air. Things may seem a little wobbly at first, but that's just because of moving through the different altitudes. Your ears will pop as you climb through the altitudes also. (chewing gum, drinking something, swallowing, or yawning will alleviate the pressure.)

Once you are in the air, things will feel smooth. You will hear the humm of the engines, but that's normal, nothing to worry about. I actually find it relaxing. If there is turbulence, you might feel the plane wobble a little bit, but remember, planes are designed to withstand this, so take a deep breath and try not to think about it.

When you are approaching landing, your ears will pop as you descend through the altitudes (remember: chewing gum, drinking something, swallowing, or yawning will alleviate the pressure). You will feel the plane slow down and the cabin crew will prepare you for landing. When the plane touches down it kind of feels like a short jolt, and then you hear them cut the engines off and the plane slows down pretty fast.

From there, the plane will taxi to either the gate or the designation where a bus will pick you up. You wait for the plane to decompressurize a few moments before they start letting the passengers out. That was your flight.

To entertain yourself:
- Bring along a few book, magazines, puzzles (such as crosswords or Sodoku if you like those).
- Bring along an iPod, MP3 player, or CD player to listen to music.
- A laptop is good to have as you can play games on it, connect to the internet, and get any work done that you may have.
- Try talking to the people next to you. Sometime you will meet some really interesting people, and forge friendships

I love planes. Ever since I flew for the first time, I've always wanted to be a pilot. Right now I'm working on my pilots license. The best part is the take off. You have to taxi onto the runway, which takes forever. Then you start going and it gets really loud and you get pushed back into your seat. Once you stop climbing it's just like you're riding in a car, you get used to it. The food on the plane isn't the best though. When it comes time for the landing make sure you have a piece of gum in your mouth because your ears pop. I don't know there's just something about flying that I love.

the closest you will discover is the "parasite fighter" courses interior the 20's or so w/ Zepplins and later massive bombers interior the 50's yet then those planes did no longer "land" they flew as much as the mothership from under and snagged a bar or something w/ a hook and have been then reeled in whilst that they had achieved this (yet this never went previous the sorting out point) So no, planes have never landed on different planes w/out the crash being suggested on the 6 o'clock information

Take off is kinda wild, you get pushed back in your seat, but once you are up and flying, you get used to it. I fly a couple times a year, but I have always enjoy it. My first flight, I was scared too because of what everybody said about it. If it really bothers you, take some type of sleeping pill before you get on. A friend of mine does this because she hates flying. I usually fall asleep on the longer flights by myself. Remember fear is only in your mind. Don't let it ruin this for you.

Planes are flying busses.
For real.
Hence the name "Airbus Industries" which is Boeing's main/only competitor.
Be prepared to "pop" your ears, sit back, relax, and think about the fact your 35,000 feet in the air doing over 550 mph.
It's a blast but long trips are a bummer 'cause your butt gets tired.
Have Fun!
All the best~

They are a lot of fun, just think about all the great places they can take you. As for safety, they are still the safest form of travel. Some people see them as big buses because they carry so many passangers, but it something you need to do if you want to get anywhere fast.Have fun with it and don't be scared.

have you ever done any hearing tests when they put you in a sealed room and they test you well its exactly like that and take some gum to chew so when your ears feel the pressure you can pop them back to hearing well or use ear plugs take off is a little shakey feels like your starting on a big roller coaster lil buterflys not majoir and then smooth sailing very relaxing landing feels like your coming down a roller coaster hill but not scary at all have fun

it's actually really cool. trust me you won't crash incase you are nervous(it's proven that air travel is the safest mean of transportation). the takeoff is fun, and don't be scared about the landing because when you land, it is really lound and sound like the plane might blow up but doesn't. ive flown many times before and it's awesome.

It's like sitting in a movie theatre with the seats in front of you being a bit closer, and breathing recycled air for hours on end.
