You absolutely have a right to his medical records. They probably think you're going to switch doctors and they're trying to stop you.
All you should have to do to get the records is fill out a form (which most offices have on hand) sign and perhaps pay a small fee for the copies. They cannot deny you the records!

Most small practices hate handing over medical records, because requesting them usually means that you are changing pediatricans. That said they lose money. Most medical offices have a business office and you can make a formal complaint via email, I prefer paper documentation sent certified mail. Doesn't cost over a buck or two. If all else fails and you are changing pediatricians, your new pediatric staff would be more than happy to request them for you. This way would probably be the most professional and efficient. Good Luck and congrats.

Show them proof that you are his legal guardian and they must hand over copies of the medical records if you want them although the doctors can be picky about the records and only want to send them to other doctor's if requested. Ask them why they won't give you copies.

Send the place a hand written request for his medical records. They have 2 weeks to give them to you at a cost if they wish. Some places will give copies for free others will charge by the page. I had NO problems getting mine except from ONE doctor...when I got the medical file...I noticed this particular doctor wrote nasty things about me and my husband! Like "notice parents argue"; "parents refused chicken pox vaccine if they won't reconsider I will turn them into CPS, without this vaccine the child could die"...things like that...what did that have to do with a sore throat? or jaundice? My other 3 kids had chicken pox and NONE of them died! I was so glad we moved! Then we did divorce...so no more argueing...lol wink

I have worked in Doctors offices and you are always entitled to copies of your own and your underage childrens.
What gives?
Get a lawyer and if you can't afford one find a free agency in your city/town

No the medical records are property of the dr's office. Technically they don't have to give them to you if they don't want to. Ask them why they won't give them to you and see if you can get a copy. they may charge you for the copies though. Threaten them with a attorney and see what they say

I've never encountered that problem getting my children's records. I believe you need to look up HIPAA laws.
