There's no wrong way to do it. Just don't buy too much at one time. It can be a little overwhelming. They do have theme packs which is a great start. They come with 12 x 12 sheets, stickers, embellishments, frames and tags.

Here are some sites to get some ideas:

Also there's this great book titled "Encyclopedia of Scrapbooking" by Creating Keepsakes. Lots of ideas that are short and to the point.

Craft stores have a great selection of items and organization items but you can also buy scrapbooking stuff on the internet. www.orientaltrading.com has a great selection. I also like to buy extra stuff at dollar stores such as stickers and embellishments. Have fun!

At first I started out cheap. I went to the dollar store and bought stickers and construction paper for backgrounds. You can also use old cards from birthdays, grads, christmas, halloween, weddings. You can cut out figures or animations from the cards to decorate. Get a few stackable storage bins to seperate paper, stickers, embelishments(buttons, puff balls, old film negatives. etc.), scissors and glue. I like to use "magnetic" photo albums. I like to scrapbook chronologically. I start with the oldest member(family or friend) and get the the pics I want of them and then organize theres from when they were the youngest to now. Then I go to the next to oldest and do the same thing. I use gallon sized plastic baggies to seperate my photos, these usually store even the big pictures. Hope it helps.
