I am new to the area and will likely be playing solo and I am looking for the best quality coarse to play within 20 miles or so of Denton, TX. I am a true 12 handicap and can shoot in the 70s on the rare occaision I can get my putting going.

Thanks

Hi Scott,

I now live in San Diego but spent about 7 years in Denton. A really fun and inexpensive track to play is about 15-20 minutes south of Denton in North Lewisville called Lake Park. It's a fairly flat, somewhat short links style layout, but the constant wind coming off of Lake Lewisville makes it pretty challenging. Another recommendation is Tour 18 in Flower Mound (check link below). Tour 18 might be more than 20 minutes away but no more than 30, but is well worth the trip. It has 18 of Americas greatest simulated holes including Amen Corner from Augusta National. It is a ton of fun and it's simulated right down to the wind direction. Denton CC is nice but it is private, so you have to know a member. If you are really looking for high end then you can't beat the Cowboys Golf Club. It's super pricey, but you might see Troy, Emmitt and Michael Irvin out there playing.(check link below)
If you go to Northlakes driving range about a mile north of University in Denton, the guys there can usually give you some pretty good tips on where to play as well.

Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy your time in Denton!
Happy Golfing!
