It the bible is uncorruptable word of God and it says in the New testament the the old laws still apply, then why do christians choose? Do not say that the old rules were from another time, for God susposedly knows all and would forsee that they would not apply and put that in the bible, but he didn't.

I don't pick and choose ...there are Bible verses that cover anything in life....

Why are you accusing the Christians...?

"Satan is the accuser of the brethren."

why do you not pay your mortgage payment when the bank says it is paid off? Aren't you picking and choosing by not following every line of your mortgage contract? So it is with the Bible the Old Testament types and shadows were fulfilled in Christ - since they are completed we don't "do" them in the literal sense because we have Christ. However, the teachings of God's character, nature and eternal principles that are found in these fulfilled passages and "requirements" are still valid and in full effect even today. That is why they are to be studied and applied spiritually but why we do not physically "do" them. It would be like sending a payment to the bank when the note has been paid off.

If you are able to read the whole Bible and see the whole picture, you will have your answer. Read the NT even, look at when the disciples were deciding what laws to put on the new gentile believers. Not many of them. Just a couple laws actually. Jesus refers to the 10 commandments, and to loving God and loving your neighbor. The rest is seemingly just principle that is still sound. The laws still tell us what sin is, but.....

The NT explains that the Law was meant to show us that we are incapable of surviving on our own. There is no way that anyone can follow the law perfectly for their entire life. It points to our need for a savior. Through Jesus, we have Grace, and that is our salvation.

Romans 10:4
Ephesians 2:15
Colossians 2:14
Romans 7:6
All say that with Christ's death, there is no longer a need to follow the Mosaic Law.
The Law through Moses is simply a historical curio these days.

i dont recall at this time where it says in the new testiment that the old laws still apply.

the old testiment tells us the purpose for setting up the laws of God and prophecies that Jesus was sent to fulfill. in obeying the first and foremost law of love.. all other laws of the old testiment (10 commandments) will indirectly be obeyed.

God did forsee and put it in the Bible that the old would be replaced by the new.

Those who proclaim to be christians may do this.

But true christians choose the WHOLE bible as a guidline for their lives. I personally think that since God does not change, neither does his standards stated in the Bible when it was first written.

It is unfeasible to follow the whole Bible, and they feel the need to follow *something*.

I don't know why they have that need, but they do need rules to follow, and they're happy with the Bible.

Parts of it.

The issue with the Bible is that it is an intolerant, violent set of rules. Many Christians realize this and ignore those parts, because they do not want to be intolerant and violent (well, some of them).

This is why you don't see Christians murdering little kids, even though the Bible tells them to put to death any child who disrespects his parents. Those Christians realize that following that rule would be very cruel.

Yup, the "old" rules (aka old testament) don't apply.

Except for the Ten Commandments. They came from the old testament. And they have to be published everywhere possible.

Pick and choose.

The Bible says something about the old rules going away with Jesus.... but all the anti-gay stuff you here are the od rules, so.....

To answer your question, it is because it is easier that way.

Because they don't know the bible, anyways, only the parts their pastor or priest picks out for them.
