My Doctor has diagnosed me with Depression. He gave me a prescription for Citalopram but i have a box saying Lisinopril on it. Has the Chemist given me the wrong thing?. I've had a look on the net and it seems that Lisinopril is for high blood pressure?. Should i check with the Dr that prescribed them before i start taking them?

The pharmacist (chemist) definitely made a mistake. Call the chemist and the doctor, right away.

Citalopram is generic for Celexa which is an antidepressant. It is not the same as Lisinopril. Lisinopril is not used to treat depression. You should contact your Doctor's office immediately and explain the situation. Do not take any of the medication until you speak to your doctor.

Lisinopril is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. It is used in combination with other medications to treat heart failure. Lisinopril is also used to improve survival after a heart attack. Lisinopril is in a class of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by decreasing certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, so blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently.
Citalopram is an antidepressant drug used to treat depression associated with mood disorders. It is also used on occasion in the treatment of body dysmorphic disorder and anxiety.

I would check with the doctor. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, usually prescribed for high blood pressure, heart failure and heart attacks.

Hope you get on ok - this must be a bit of a worry for you. Good luck.

Lisinopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that means Lisinopril is used to treat elevated blood pressure and heart failure. Depression is merely a documented side effect.

You are correct. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, which is indicated for the treatment of hypertension. It is not indicated for the treatment of depression.
I would return it to the pharmacy or contact your doctor.
