I doubt the date. If your read the final 3-6 months in the life of Herod the Great, it's pretty easy to see that he was responding to threats to his rule during these months from many sources, including his family. He committed numerous murders during this time and threatened a mass murder of about 3000 in one night.
He died in Jericho around March, and he had been out of the country for several months. That means that all of the events in Matthew had to have taken place around November/December.
The only reliable date at this time that astronomers can rely on is a lunar eclipse mentioned by Josephus on the night that Herod murdered a high priest, also during this time.
So for Jesus' birth, the closest we can guess is that it happened in the winter of 5/4 BC, and likely months before Passover, celebrated in March or April.

I have never read this before. I have to tell my husband. That is his birthday.
Is that possibly the actual time the bright stars met over Bethlehems manger?
Jesus is the first born for the sacrifice, so he would have to be born at the time the sheep were ready to be born in the field.

I'm not.
Jesus wanted us to remember his death and what it meant for mankind. Nowhere in the bible does Jesus say we should celebrate his birthday. Whether it be tomorrow or some other day, no one really knows.
Jesus introduces a meal to commemorate his impending death. He takes a loaf of the unleavened bread, expresses thanks in prayer, breaks it, and instructs the 11 to partake. "This means my body," he says, "which is to be given in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me." He then takes a cup of red wine. After saying a blessing, he passes the cup to them, telling them to drink out of it. Jesus adds: "This means my 'blood of the covenant,' which is to be poured out in behalf of many for forgiveness of sins."—Luke 22:19, 20; Matthew 26:26-28.
During that momentous evening, Jesus teaches his faithful apostles many valuable lessons, and among these the importance of brotherly love. (John 13:34, 35) He assures them that they will receive a "helper," the holy spirit. It will bring back to their minds all the things he has told them. (John 14:26) Later in the evening, they must be very encouraged to hear Jesus say a fervent prayer in their behalf. (John, chapter 17) After singing songs of praise, they leave the upper room and follow Jesus out into the cool late-night air.

and yet, many believe he was born around September/October timeframe. There's no evidence he was born at all. So, whenever people choose to celebrate, they should feel free to do so.
