When Adam and Eve were created, they would live in perfect bodies...never getting sick, and never dying. Only when the fruit from the tree of good and bad, they would "die." This was the warning that God gave them, otherwise they would have lived forever, as well as their descendants.
Since they ate the fruit. They got the boot from paradise Eden. They did die as God had promised, yet they lived around 900 years. They're disobedience caused there imperfection, which was passed on to their descendants.
So you may ask, "If they were so perfect, how come they did such a blunder?" Call it free will. They knew fully well what the consequences would be. It's not like they just "ooops!" Of course, an arch angel who is known as the Satan, helped to convince Adam and Eve to take the wrong path (quite a politician he could be).

Gods (Elohim) image is a Trinity; body, soul & spirit. The first Adam in the garden was a body soul & spirit. With disobedience came spiritual death (can't eat of the tree of life). So also, when we rebel purposely against Gods Love & Gods Word, spiritual blindness/ death occurs. And Sin separates mankind from God and also an incomplete person, who isn't made the image of God.
Jesus said to see the Kingdom of God, you must be born again. Born of His Spirit, cleansed by His Blood, joint heirs with Jesus, part of the family of God. To be born again is spiritual rebirth. Whole again, praying to God in spirit & truth 24/7 when ever & where ever.
When we are born again, we are made the righteousness of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is in Gods perfect image. Born again Christians are made the righteousness of Christ. Yet the body will die because of sin. At resurrection then we will be perfect like Jesus Christ, yet Jesus perfects us more so we can see God close up. Then we will know God as God knows us.

Do mirrors always accurately reflect the image of the sun? If a mirror is dirty...the image will not be the same as the original.

Gave torobyte a thumbs up, but "in His image" means we are 3 in one. Father ( mind ) Son ( flesh ) and Holy Ghost ( spirit ie... life force ).

Surely you jest.
Or, have you been hiding in a Pacific Isalnd forest?
Man was made in God's image ....yes.
Man, himself, changed matters.
God has not changed.

Nope - "image" isn't the same thing as "replica"
Your image can be found in the mirror, but it does not possess the exact same qualities and abilities that you do.
