This is hard to answer because, "Worse how?" Physically, socially, mentally, what?
Healthwise, the purely physical effects of tobacco use kill about 400,000 people in the USA yearly. The purely physical effects of cannabis use kill 0 people a year in the USA.
Socially, neither is worse than the other. However, it seems that tobacco smokers are ostracized by non-smokers far more than cannabis smokers are ostracized by non-smokers.
On the other hand, you can't go to jail for smoking tobacco in your own home.
People seem to think that nicotine doesn't have an effect on the mind... I am confused by this, because many of the smokers that I know are unable to function in any capacity whatsoever without nicotine. Meanwhile, large doses of cannabis appear to slow down or incapacitate a segment of the population... it's worth noting though that this probably varies from person to person. There is an old Egyptian saying that 'a ball of hashish in the morning gives a working man the strength of 10 camels'. Clearly the culture defines what is 'worse' or 'better' rather than the 'thing' itself.
Is it worse to use a drug that incapacitates you when you USE it, or one that incapacitates you when you are without it? That might be a good followup question.

Processed Tobacco. To go through he process of making tobacco ready to go onto the market it has to be processed. When buying a cigarette or loose tobacco from a store you are not getting pure tobacco....
There is a fella in our community who has used marijuana for over 30 years (he lives locally in our state). He also smoked tobacco there for a time. He was saying the doctors confirm smoking the tobacco was more harmful to his system then marijuana...His lungs are perfectly healthy by the way.

POT VS TOBACCO
TOBACCO IS BETTER THAN POT. WHY?
You can go to work after smoking tobbaco. After smoking pot you cannot work.
POT IS BETTER THAN TOBACCO. WHY?
It is easy to quit pot. But to quit tobacco (nicotine) is more difficult to quit.
In other words, the above statements can be mentioned from a different angle i.e
POT IS WORSE THAN TOBACCO
TOBACCO IS WORSE THAN POT
So POT AND TOBACCO are both WORSE!

Wow! reading the other answers to your question makes me realize how much inaccurate info there is circulating about mary jane. I don't encourage daily use of pot without a prescription (Dr.s write those in Canada). But anyone who says pot has more debilitating effects than cigs hasn't done their research and has limited personal exposure. I've never heard of a prescription for cigarettes. I even know some medicinal pot smokers as well as one guy who used it to lessen his nicotine withdrawl. I haven't used recreationaly in a long time and while you couldn't pay me to drink alcohol or smoke another cigarette, .........

Neither is one is good for you, but tobacco may be worse because the people that use it use a lot more per day.

Pot, the tars are heavier.
Also it leaves a residue in the brain that can really mess up the neurotransmitters for years after. Pot also gives one a false sense of ego that steals the true creativity side of someone.
Cigarettes are dangerous as they have their own tars.

Im no expert, but I would say pot, as it not only has the same effects on your body as tobacco, but it can mess up your mind as well.
