Question for ladies in long distance relationships: between phone, e-mail, and chat, which is the the communication method that makes you feel the happiest when talking to your BF?

Also would you normally welcome phone or chat to talk to him if you thought things were too much on the e-mail side, and if so, how frequently?

I'm in a LDR. So what makes me the most happiest is the phone because I can actually hear his voice. Alternative communication tools that we like to use are definitely texting thru out the day, pictures, chat, and web cam. Myspace.com is a new thing we use too. Every little bit counts, but I would definitely use phone more than the other methods. (And web cam..)

There are many nice ways to communicate.

It took my husband and I awhile to get it down to a fine art. (He is in Arabia, I am in Canada. We meet in other countries when it is possible.)

Daily communication is best. If you must go away for a few days, best you let her know. Try to stay in touch as possible compared to being together in the flesh. That is where texting comes in handy. I know lots of people who do this but I am not into cell phones so that is not what I do. But I know it is also a nice way for people to feel 24/7 connected.

Yahoo chat and a cam are wonderful. Some Yahoo chats have phone for international free calling.

Email is always a sweet treat just for special notes or gifts of poetry or photos. I loved to write stories or poems for my love and surprise him with them in the mail. I would combine photos wiht poems. Also if I took photos and I often did just for him as well, I would send him shots of my activities. Oh like.. that forest.. or (and this happened last year) the black bear who lumbered up behind me while I was photographing a wild swan.

The most important thing is regularity. Email is just not enough hon. Not with the options of live chat and a cam!

Good luck. I know how tough time differences can be! I was with an Aussie for 7 years and we had problems at the best of times. Now my husband is in Arabia and that is 12 hours ahead of me. Just as tough! But we manage.

OH and once you are at a certain point, sending gifts to each other is lovely. I am always thrilled to receive packages from Arabia! He is always happy to receive something from me.

There is no way I will ever move to KSA so we may have to rethink our marriage alas. Until then, it is visits from him and long distance.

Good luck!
