Essex is in England, is it not? Well, if you were to come over to the United States, I don't think you would have much of a problem getting an American girlfriend. A lot of people love the British accent!

Why does an American girl appeal to you?

I ask this as an American living in London (sorry, I'm married).

My advice to you is:

1. try out some of the on line dating sites - (Snog - is one I can think of) - often people post their nationalities - or check out the American dating sites and maybe strike up a correspondence.

2. Plan a trip to the States - New York is a good place to start. Lots of single women there.

3. Failing that there are a number of places in London on a Saturday night where you might be able to meet Americans. Loads of US expats hang out at an American BBQ restaurant and bar called Bodeans in Soho (I think its on D'arbly Street - but google it to be sure). You can also meet them at Cheers in Piccadilly (lots of tourists go there) and at the Hard Rock Cafe. Anywhere in the West End, actually. And with Spring/Summer approaching there will be even more around on holiday.

Happy hunting!
