I've been taking around 13-16 ballet classes a week(each class around an hour long). But recently i've been having problems with with cramps in my upper right thigh, when lifting my leg any higher than 90 degrees. Also my muscles are really tight in both thighs. I've been trying to stretch them out but, so far it hasn't really done anything. Please help I have a compition tomarrow, and I can't really afford to be this sore.

If this is a more sudden problem, you might want to have a quick doctor visit to ensure you didn't tear a muscle or done any damage to cartilidge.

It is possible that you've just been working out so much, your muscles are over-tired and you just need to relax some. I would recommend you do this after your competition anyway. Overusing muscles can and will cause problems. Each time you exercise (and your classes certainly count), your muscles are used - they tear and need time to rest and rebuild. You may not be giving your muscles that recovery time. In the future, I would decrease your classes and work-outs a bit to allow your body to recover.

But for now, I think a doctor visit is needed to ensure no damage was done.

Good luck!

I don't know exactly what exercises are done in ballet, but you probably have overworked them. That isn't necessarily a bad thing; when they heal, they'll be stronger. But since you need them to heal fast, rest them as much as possible. Drink milk or eat high protein food; this may speed up the re-building of damaged muscle. Do as much stretching as possible, but do it gently. Overstretching when your muscles are sore and tight can do more harm than good.
If all else fails, try Advil:)
Good luck with your competition!

You are overdoing it ,slow down and drink water. Most skeletal muscle cramps are caused by dehydration. Females can get similar symptoms from low iron on certain days I've been told.
