I've always wanted to travel. I can't just yet. I probably won't until I'm in a walker :*( but I'd like to have my passport just in case I ever get the chance. I'd love to visit Italy, Spain, Greece and France. I just do.

You need to have two passport photos taken first. This can be done in most places where they develop film. They develop them while you wait.

Since this will be your first passport you have to apply in person. You can renew it by mail when it expires in 10 years.

Download the application form at the link below and fill it out.

Then you must present proof of citizenship (a birth certificate if you were born here or proof of naturalization if you weren't). You must also present a government issued ID like a driver's license or naturalization certificate. If you have neither of these you can get a non-driver ID from the DMV and that will be accepted.

You submit all this documentation and check or credit card (some places take cash, but you have to call ahead to find out) to cover the processing fee of $97.00 for age 16 and up and they send you your passport in the mail a few weeks later.

You can also have this done on an express basis for about $150.00.

You can do this at any full service Post Office.

You'll be able to get more detailed info on all of this at the link below.

forget approximately approximately any six month rule. some international locations do require a passport of a customer to proceed to be valid previous a proposed stay, in some situations by skill of six months, yet there is not any customary rule. in spite of everything, that in the time of basic terms applies to foreigners; you're neither a foreigner interior the U. S. nor in Australia. you're in basic terms meant to have a valid Australian passport whilst getting into or exiting Australia and a valid US passport whilst getting into or exiting the U. S.. you need to use any of you passports till the day it expires. it is available to resume your Australian passport interior the U. S., yet in many situations it may be quicker and extra easy to try this in the time of Australia. in case you intend to shuttle in a month you could have quite some time to resume your passport till now you pass. As an grownup Australian passport is valid for ten years and you don't be attentive to ways long you would be interior the U. S. it type of feels lifelike to resume it now.

In most European countries when you register at a hotel, you have to show your passport. At the same time, when you travel, if you are flying in, you have to show where you from. If you are only visiting for a few days the countries that you mentioned, there is no need for a visa. Besides, coming back, you have to show your passport. Good luck and enjoy your trip
