I have to write a paper for a grad class and I have a horrible cold. I'm so congested I can hardly breathe. I went to the doc and he said there was nothing he could give me to make it go away quicker...it just had to run its course. I can't concentrate to write this paper...what can I do to clear my head so I can write this weekend? I've been taking some OTC meds and drinking lots of OJ :(

Work on it during the time of day that you feel best.

Also, the best thing to take for a cold is a simple pain reliever (I like Aleve). It will reduce the swelling in your respiratory passageways and lessen the "stuffed up" feeling. Cold medicines don't really work and can actually have a rebound effect. Also take an antihistamine to dry things up.

If you're an A or B student, read the material into a recorder and then play it back later in the day.

If your a C student, read it once and hope for the best.

If your a D or less student, place books under your pillow and hope osmosis works.

try some vicks vapor rub. It might help clear up some things. Also do you know what your paper is over? Do you have the references? How about having someone type for you as you lay down and dictate to them?

Hope you feel better!

take tylenol 975mg or childrens liquid motrin 800mg every 4-6 hours for fever and body aches, drink tea with lemon and honey, use halls menthol, go for a walk or light jog. and if you are just laying around on bed/couch/floor....just get up and start doing things as mentioned above. trust me, i know how u feel, but when push comes to shove, u just do what u gotta do.

Try to relax. If you need to take some meds before you start your paper.....that is fine.....but other than that don't take any more medication. Try to sit in a quiet room. wrap yourself in a blanket and sit on the couch. get comfortable and then start your paper.
