The 1121 means that your return is being reviewed for questionable items, this could be anything from a dependants social security number being incorrect, to issues in claiming the EIC. Once the IRS makes the changes or determines what the issue is. They will contact you notifiying you if your return has errors or if they need additional information to complete the processing of your return

Yes. I filed on 2/7, accepted 2/8 and I am still getting this reference number. I have actually had a coupe numbers it keeps changing from 1121 and 1301. I even had a direct deposit date of 3/2 and then it changed back to refrence code 1121 and was never deposited. I called the IRS and they said they have no knowledge of any errors and that there are so many that are hand picked for manual review so it sound like we are one of them.
I would call if I were you and see if you can get any different info.
Please keep us updated if you hear anything new, and I'll do the same.

yea the same thing happened to me i filed on the same day as you received two deposit dates with the last being 3/2/07 i called and they told me that my refund was deposited then i check the wheres my refund and it said called and mention reference # 1121 i called and they stated to give them until 3/23/07 and then to call back, and then i ask them what was the hold up and they stated that the computer spit my refund out so they had to put it in by hand, but i should be receiving a letter stating the delay but they are not requesting anything, so and then i called the taxpayer advocate and she stated that i need to provide proof of my wages and to fax it to her and if i'm having an hardship to fax proof of that as well i just want to know how long is this whole entire process is going to take i never had a problem before so as far as the 1121 i guess it means fraud since they are not giving me any answer but i could say this, last tax season 2005 two of my friends filed and then they got that tax code 1121, they never received a letter and they never called to check on there refund but then 5 months after that there refunds showed up in there mail box, so i don't know what the irs is doing but i do need my money asap. i hope this answered your questioned.

It may take awhile to get a solid answer on the reason for the 1121 delay. You should get a CP-05 notice 30 days after your filing date. Once you get the notice, if you are experiencing hardship you can call the taxpayer advocate.
I'm speaking from experience. I filed on 1/16 and have had 1121 since 2/5, I got a cp-05 notice last week and applied for an advocate. I finally got an answer!! Well I shouldn't be so happy, I am under audit, but it's for EIC and I just need to gather some information to send them. I'm just happy to finally have some hope that I will get my refund!
Good luck and hang in there....you'll hear something eventually.
I heard they were doing this on ALOT of refunds claiming EIC, I suppose we can thank the ones who fraud the system!

reference # 1121 just means that the irs is waiting on issues dealing with the deductions that were not approved by congress until november of 2006....... it means we all just have to wait..... one thing you could try is to call the irs 800 number and talk to the hardship department and tell them you are late on house payments or car payments or something like that it should speed up the process........... thats what i did and i got a check in the mail in two weeks....... instead of the direct deposit
