I just joined the Navy, scheduled to leave for basic training in June. A week after I swore in and signed my contract my Navy recruiter calls me and says that MEPS did my background check and I have a warrant from not completing my community service hours from a "Theft Under $300" charge from 1998, but my recruiter, a few other people and i have called the central processing staion, the court houses, court clerks, and police stations, and they all say there is no record of me having any warrants. Now the Navy might not want to take me in, how is this possible???

that's a bunch of bull ****!!!!

First of all that is a misdemeanor?!!
Now I don't exactly know Navy regulations, but I am pretty sure that is NOT the only reason....

Federal Bureau's keep All of those records on file (see what is required of you by the NAVY and get letters and proofs for any and all sources to confirm this situation resolved),..... MY best advise to you is hire a lawyer!!!!

Hi,

Well considering the FBI is under bushs thumb, you can expect anything bush touches will immediately turn to s - - t.

The man has been a failure all his life and has done nothing right to date, suggest you have your recruiter to have the FBI provide written proof, dates times, and who's and where's as to who issued the warrant, and when and where and ask to see a certifiable copy of the warrant.

This is still America and you are still innocent until proven guilty.

Next step would be to file a complaint with the American Civil Liberties Union.

Good Luck,

Darryl S.

AGAIN WITH THE SAME QUESTION. I THINK IT WOULD BE BEST THAT YOU DO GET BOOTED FROM DEP AND CAN'T JOIN THE NAVY. WE HAVE TOLD YOU SO MANY TIMES WHAT TO DO.

AGAIN:

GET A LETTER FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN QUESTION SAYING YOU DO NOT HAVE A WARRANT FOR YOUR ARREST. SUBMIT THIS LETTER TO YOUR RECRUITER TO FAX TO MEPS. THAT'S IT, NOTHING ELSE EXCEPT YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO WRITE AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT TO GO ALONG WITH THE POLICE LETTER. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL NOT HAVE A PROBLEM PROVIDING YOU THIS LETTER IF YOU JUST ASK THEM NICELY AND EXPLAIN WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO......JOIN THE NAVY.

NOW PLEASE STOP ASKING THIS SAME QUESTION OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. WE WANT TO HELP YOU, BUT RIGHT NOW WE WANT TO NOT HELP YOU TOO MUCH SINCE WE HAVE ALREADY GIVEN YOU THE RIGHT ANSWER.

I USED TO BE A NAVY CLASSIFER AT MEPS, I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. I AM NOT JUST PULLING THIS HELP OUT OF THIN AIR, THIS IS YOUR ONLY SOLUTION AND THE LONGER YOU WAIT TO DO WHAT I AM TELLING YOU THE PROBABILITY THAT THEY KICK YOU OUT OF DEP IS INCREASING.

AND BEFORE YOU ASK THE NEXT QUESTION I KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO ASK YOU CANNOT JUST GO OVER TO THE ARMY AND ENLIST THERE. THEY USE THE SAME BACKGROUND CHECK AND WILL FIND THE SAME INFORMATION YOU ARE DEALING WITH NOW.\

PLEASE JUST LISTEN AND STOP ASKING THIS QUESTION.....

It isn't possible. The FBI could care less about your community service. It's a matter for the local cops and local courts to work out.

If this is a big deal for you, talk to a lawyer. If not, join the Army instead.

You should ask this question:
'Are my questions really annoying?'
Description:
'Are my questions bothering anyone here?'
Sorry, but it had to be said.
