There are hundeds of distros to choose from. Try distrowatch.com or filesoup.com, for a minimal fee at frozentech.com you can have a cd mailed to you. I like slax from slax.org and xubuntu from ubuntu.com

there are many places you can download linux from. first you need to know which one you want (Fedora, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE) you can just google them and they will take you to the website, where you can download the LiveCD's, so you can try them before you install.

The easiest to install and use is UBUNTU or XUBUNTU if your computer has less than 256MB of RAM.
