Anxiety is often mistaken with a heart attack. An panic/anxiety attack has the same symptoms as a heart attack... short in breath, pain chests, tight chest, head ache, etc. When you are anxious, your blood pressure spikes up because you are making the blood rush everywhere. Your sympathetic nerves are enabled, therefore raising blood levels, hormone secretion, etc. Your chest hurts basically because you are putting too much pressure on your heart (due to the blood pressure) because it's pumping blood faster

Anxiety prolong the physiological state of fear that is strong enough to prepare for a fight or take an opportunity to run. Heartrate increases, blood pressure rises, bowels prepare to empty, breathing becomes deep and rapid, etc. Anxiety, even low levels of anxiety, creates an environment in the chest cavity that is prepared for instant action. Since most modern anxiety is mental rather that corporeal, such as an impending lion attack, it is harder to find an immediate solution such as running from or shooting the lion.

You have been diagnosed with (GAD)generalized anxiety disorder ? Everyone feels anxious from time to time, like when they have to meet a deadline or deliver a presentation. But for people with GAD, a constant and exaggerated sense of worry interferes with their daily life. People with GAD tend to expect the worst when dealing with issues related to money, health, family, or work, even when there is no sign of troubleAbout 5% of people in the U.S. will have GAD at some point during their lifetime. Each year, about 3% of the U.S. adult population has GAD (approximately 6.5 million Americans). Nearly twice as many women as men are affected.People with GAD may experience a few symptoms or may feel overwhelmed by many symptoms. The key signs of GAD are anxiety and worry that are difficult to control and have lasted for at least 6 months. In addition to excessive anxiety and worry, people with GAD have at least 3 of the following symptoms:
* Restlessness or feeling on edge
* Fatigue
* Difficulty concentrating or mind going blank
* Irritability
* Muscle tension
* Difficulty sleeping
Some additional signs associated with GAD include:
* Symptoms associated with muscle tension, such as trembling, twitching, feeling shaky, and muscle aches and soreness
* Physical symptoms such as clammy hands, dry mouth, sweating, nausea or diarrhea, an increased need to urinate, trouble swallowing, and an exaggerated response to being surprised
People with GAD often have symptoms of depression as well. In fact, 2 national studies found that between 58% and 70% of people who suffered from GAD in their lifetime have also suffered from depression at some point.
