depends on the type of exercise bike. regular daily exercise is good perhaps 20 minutes a day if its part of your routine. It can help with a calorie controlled diet and you will lose weight, but bike is a very slow calorie burner on its own.
You will get a good cardio-vascular work out but you have to do more aerobic work out like Spincycle work out.... bike to your favourite music, but it needs to be strenuous and varied.
