"White" is a made up term. There is really no such thing as race except for our imagination. People label other people by however it is convenient to them at the time.

I'm not sure where you get your percentages, but in my humble opinion, these people are neither White, Asian or Black, I consider them mixed racially. But if I don't know the person personally, I would probably assume they were whatever they look like the most. So if they have an Asian mother and a white father, and they look white I would identify them as white, because that's what they look like to me and I have no idea who this persons parents were. If they looked more Asian or Black I would identify them that way. How would I know they were mixed unless I knew their parents.
I think the whole race thing is getting out of control anyway. people are people, who cares what race they are?

It goes all the way back to slavery. This was to keep the blacks of mixed race who looked white from passing for white. So they came up with 1/8 rule, which basically means that if you have 1 drop of black blood or other minority blood you are not white.

well... think of it this way:

most people in the states define themselves by their ancestry.

think of it this way: if you are a 3rd generation american born person who's forefathers came from somewhere else in the world (italy for example), you tend to call yourself an italian american. but you're not. you're an american who comes from italian ancestry.

people are very proud of their heritage (and so they should be). so even though italians don't necessarily have identifying ancestral characteristics (different eye shapes, certain colour of hair) they are defined by the genetic pool from whence they came.

sofor people with african or asian ancestry, the physical stuff is just more physically apparent but they are no more often labelled as african or asian than the person who comes from italian heritage.

it's a cultural and pride of heritage thing.

i think it's part of what makes us diverse and interesting and proud. no?

Because the white man feels that they tainted. The white man doesn't want anyone that has been corrupted by other blood to be labled a caucasion. As you know, the white man still has all the power.

I'll put the question right back to you. Why do you refer to yourself as 100% Asian? Do you think that those who are not Asian are different?

It goes back to an old law that if you were 1/8 black than you were black. It was used to try to oppress minorities and now it is just ingrained in society.
