I just joined the Navy, scheduled to leave for basic training in June. A week after I swore in and signed my contract my Navy recruiter calls me and says that MEPS did my background check and I have a warrant from not completing my community service hours from a "Theft Under $300" charge from 1998, but my recruiter, a few other people and i have called the central processing staion, the court houses, court clerks, and police stations, and they all say there is no record of me having any warrants. Now the Navy might not want to take me in, how is this possible???

It's possible to have a federal warrant, but the local (state) courts and police have no record of it. Different systems, different records.

Ok, ONE MORE TIME....if it was a misdemeanor charge then yes the FBI will have access to the records, but....it will have to be handled in the county that it was filed.
Since it was almost 10 yrs ago then it will have to be dug up.
Contact the PROSECUTING ATTORNEYS office, explain the situation. Find out the possibility of a discharge or amends.
The MEPS station (or recruiter) should have supplied you with a copy of the complaint against you. It should have at the least a docket number or case number.

hi, nicely thinking the FBI is under bushs thumb, you could anticipate something bush touches will on the instant turn to s - - t. the guy has been a failure all his existence and has achieved no longer something authentic as much as now, advise you have your recruiter to have the FBI furnish written evidence, dates situations, and who's and the place's as to who issued the warrant, and whilst and the place and ask to work out a certifiable replica of the warrant. this continues to be united statesa. and you're nonetheless harmless till shown to blame. next step could be to document a criticism with the yank Civil Liberties Union. stable success, Darryl S.
