Are we being fed another story so we'll stop bothering to be considerate to our planet which will in turn mean a load more dough for whoever's behind this "con" story.

You know, I truly want to believe down deep in my heart that people are intelligent and when I read some of these global warming questions and their answers, I'm brought back to the cruel realization that there is an element of humanity that is dumber than a box of rocks. People read the internet and watch An Inconvenient Truth or some news program and then think they have the truth. Nothing could be further from it. Once again, I ask the question - Why do the scientists who are making their living from research grants, tend to side with the global warming, sky is falling crowd, and the scientists, who by and large are some of the more experienced, who don't rely on research grants, say that man made global warming is nothing more than hype? Does this speak anything at all to any of you? If you had a good job - presumably , some of you do - and your boss told you to do (or say) something, and your lively hood was at stake, would you comply? Would a scientist comply? What would a scientist do if he/she couldn't be a scientist anymore, work at McDonald's? And then you get people like momus2k7 and Anaconda - Lord have mercy...

The programme was not 100% - the idea that greater warming at the poles would result in less turbulent weather is patently not what we're seeing regards hurricanes etc. Thats simple observation.

BUT the link from solar activity to cosmic ray flux to cloud formation needs to be addressed. Is this in the models or not - and are the effects of this linkage/coupling as large as presented? If the discussion regards predicted temperature rise in the troposphere is correct why are we not seeing large heat increases as required by the models?

Its hard to believe that the science as presented in the IPCC could be so vulnerable to such fundemental attacks on its base assumptions. We clearly need these questions answered before the debate can continue. Keep moving down the current path, thats prudent BUTaddress the science immediately - I doubt that its inclusion into the model should be that difficult; irrespective it needs to be done.

The greenhouse effect can be proved.
BUT this effect is expected to last only a short time. The increase in temperature causes the polar ice caps to melt and this increase in fresh water will eventually stop the Gulf Stream which keeps Britain warm
Eventually an ice age will then follow!!!

Try these:.

1. Just stand in a greenhouse on a sunny day, The temperature will get very high quite quickly.
2. Try this experiment.

Get 2 lemonade bottles.
flush one with fresh air and seal a thermometer in the top.

Put some carbon dioxide in the other (from some fizzy drink) seal and put a thermometer in this one.

Place them side by side in a sunny place and note that the one with the carbon dioxide increases its temperature a lot quicker!!

You watched the programme too eh?. I was very impressed by it and certainly makes one think. Global warming is definitely happening but I feel sided with the arguments re the SUN. A monster of a star like the sun must surely play a huge roll on how our planet is constantly altering the climate.

manyWhat are you talking about. If you mean (this government British isles ) , then you might want to consider why they are putting a fee to all travellers £5.00 to travel from UK via all air lines, BUT ARE ALLOWING A 5TH RUN WAY TO GO AHEAD.) is that OK ? And a 6Th at some time in the near future.)
There seems to be a one way thinking here, all,s OK if we pay more, for our air line tickets, but some of us are thinking that others are making money from saying there is NO problem with the every day life of the average person to continue with there every day lives , who are you believing ? .
Who are we to believe ? there are so many questions to be answered so let,s all get together and try to sort our own view,s on this subjuct. Who is up for that ?. p.s.

GLOBAL WARMING IS HAPPENING!!!!!! The debate is OVER. Scientists all over the world have agreed that this is true; the only ones who don't are people who pretend to know a lot of science and have plenty of data, but the data is chosen from weather stations with exceptions ONLY, which does not constitute an argument. Have you watched 'an Inconvenient Truth' by Al Gore? Have you read any books on global warming? (Obviously you can choose to read those that say it's not happening, but personally I prefer to read all of them and decide for myself, rather than live a blissful lie.) Compare the graphics of rises in CO2 and rises in temperature and you'll find they correspond almost exactly.

I live in Spain. The newspapers are hardly off the subject, because Spain is one of the places (except the Poles) that are being most affected by it. Bears have been found that have stopped hibernating. Swallows are coming earlier and earlier; we have storks in December. It used to snow in March; it's March now and it feels like early summer used to. We've only had two decent snowfalls and the longest only lasted two days. They used to last a week. Last summer we got 49ºC in my town.

Still not worried?

In Antarctica, the Larsen A and Larsen B ice sheets, among the largest in the continent, have collapsed. The sea is heating up, which is devastating to ALL life forms. All-powerful humans INCLUDED.

Polar bears are drowning in the North Pole because the ice is melting too quickly in spring, and eventually cannot support their weight.

Still not worried?

And this is our fault. We can choose to ignore it, hope it will get better, hope the atmosphere will miraculously evacuate the hundreds of tonnes of carbon dioxide we're pouring into it. We can hope it will clear away with the touch of a magic wand. But it won't.

We can believe that the planet will still be there for us. We can stop caring about what sort of a planet we'll leave behind for our children. Stop caring about what they'll think about us, because we didn't care. We can do this.

I won't.

Thousands of scientists worked on this document, which has extensive data showing global warming. Thousands more have reviewed it. This is as solid as science gets.

Which is why these people, who are not liberals or environmentalists, believe it's real. They've heard the dissenters arguments and they don't buy them. They don't get their science from Al Gore, they get it from the best scientists in the world. You may not respect all of them, but surely you respect some.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."

Russell E. Train, Republican, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford

"We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over."

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Republican, Governor, California

"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."

John McCain, Republican, Senator, Arizona

"These technologies will help us become better stewards of the environment - and they will help us to confront the serious challenge of global climate change."

President George Bush

Global warming is not a theory, its a fact, and all countries except the USA have accepted that. Why do u think the last summers where so damn hot, and the winters to damn cold? Every year there are more and stronger hurricans destroying the coasts.

Have a look at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming

if u want to have a litle insight about what will hapen in the next few years.
