Well, one scientific explanation that was given was that these people might have been just remembering their birth, as the brain was not functioning properly. The tunnel, being while they were being born and the light is when there were already born and were in a bright environment. Yes, I want to believe in life after death, but I have to ask, all these people who had these Near Death Experience, and believe that there is a life after death, another dimension, how can they be not sure that it was not a dream, a hallucination, side effects of the anesthesia. I mean, these people who experienced these NDE, they are still alive, so it could mean that it might have been just a dream because at that time, your brain is still functioning, and if the brain was not functioning at all, the these people would be dead (in most cases). So what do people really think about these NDEs, are they just wistful thinking, a hallucination or is there another dimension that we are unaware of and if that there is life after death.

Doctors can replicate the effects of NDE using an anesthetic called Ketamine; it causes sensations of floating above one's body and seeing bright, circular lights.

Also, trauma can induce a massive release of Dimethyltryptamine from the pineal gland, which can also cause other symptoms of near-death experiences.

Medical science has pretty much characterized "near death experiences" as hallucinations caused by cerebral hypoxia (lack of oxygen to the brain). One of the manifestations of hypoxia is a loss of visual field, i.e. you get "tunnel vision." During cardiac arrest situations we shine bright lights into the victim's eyes to check pupillary response; if the pupils contract, we know CPR is being effective. A dying brain will also be more prone to hallucination. People deprived of oxygen will often hallucinate; during the stress of a cardiac arrest, the brain will throw out all sorts of bizarre images, and most likely they will involve the person's worst fears or preconceived notions regarding the "afterlife."
Sorry to burst anyone's bubbles here, but it's just physiology, not heaven.

You cant experience death unless youre fully dead.

You cant know at all what its like unless youve been dead a good couple of hours.

Minutes? seconds? thats not long enough for your soul to go over to the other side and see exactly what its like there.

Plus, when you die, you cant come back : /

So those people havent been dead at all if you ask me.

As for life after death, this is a term that refers to your entire body being resurrected, PHYSICALLY, after its long gone.

Not the passing of the soul to the other side, thats for sure.

Well, if my experience was a dream, then it was a pretty realistic one, and my blood pressure dropped so low that they couldn't find my pulse. I did not see a bright light. I did however see my dog who had died a few years earlier, and she was jumping up and down all excited-like, trying to get me to follow her. I reached down to pet her and something held me back. I had the sense that I shouldn't pet her. Then I woke up and found out from the nurse who was attending me that I gave everyone a bad scare because when I passed out, they couldn't find my pulse.

My mother had a similar experience, and she did almost die. In her experience, she saw the doctors working to save her and she saw her mother who had died years earlier. Her mother told her she needed to go back because it wasn't her time yet. It's true. It wasn't her time. My mother lived another 30 years before she died. Though her death was sudden, the peaceful look on her face was a comfort.

I believe in life after death because my Christian faith tells me there is. These experiences further my belief.

Near Death Experiences are purely the work of the subconscious mind. It has been found that people from different religions have NDE's that correspond exactly to their beliefs.

I believe the scientific explanation. Everyone has the memories of their whole life somewhere in their brain. I think that is a memory coming out.

mine did include a light off in a distance, however, there was no tunnel.. the focus was on the incident from a short distance away, the surroundings were very muted overall, except a light, then the very clear incident.

Mine was nothing like the "light at the end of the tunnel". It was completely different.

Would everyone have the same hallucination or dream? I think they are true.
