Reading in the book of Genesis, I've noticed that :
1) There is no indication that the serpent in the Garden of Eden, and the devil (who shows up in later stories in the Bible) were the same entity.
2) There's no indication that the serpent had an agenda.
Try seeing it from the serpent's perspective. You're at a summer BBQ, getting some potato salad at a picnic table, and two kids tell you that they can't have a slice of watermelon because daddy said that if they ate it they would die. You explain no, they won't die. They eat it. They don't die. And the father beats the crap out of you anyway. Seems strange to me.

What doubt? He said they wouldn't die if they ate the apple (like God told them they would) and they didn't.
God- eternal liar.
