I'm just asking this out of my own curiosity about what Christians believe.

no - Jesus once said that He only does what He sees His father doing. Well, Jesus taught in parables, because we tend to understand principle better in the format of a story. So, isn't it rational to think that maybe some of the OT stories are parables as well?? Could they be there to teach a lesson instead of to teach history??

I don't know this for sure, but it makes sense to me that it could be. I'm not going to assert that it is all 100% true and historical, because I don't know that. But I do know that there are principles on how we should or should not live in all the old stories.

Yes, I do. You know, I used to be an atheist and evolutionist for 20 years, until I opened my mind a little and actually listened to the other side. I discovered that there are actually thousands of scientific facts that deny evolution and support the idea that the Earth is young, the life on it is intelligently designed, and there was a worldwide Flood. There is no legitimate scientific reason to reject a literal interpretation of the book of Genesis. Just don't go to evolutionists to answer questions about Creation. You'll never get a correct answer.

Unless the language is obviously intended to be taken figuratively, yes, it is literally true.
For example, Jesus believed literally in Adam and Eve (see Matthew 19:3-9)
Jesus believed literally in Jonah being swallowed by a great fish (see Matthew 12:40); and Jesus believed literally in a universal flood in the days of Noah (see Matthew 24:37-39)

YES! to answer ur first question... and now for the second. we believe that God sent his only son, Jesus to die on the cross ( a very very very bruatl death) for our sins because he loves us so much. and the way we can be saved is by saying this prayer..

Dear God,
I know that I have sinned. I believe you sent your son Jesus to die for me. I believe he is the one and only messiah. I am ready for you to take my life and change me. Make me new. I give everything to you. Please forigve me. I love you.

Amen

and now you just live your life for God and try to act the way he would want you to. Teach as many people about him as possible. Go to church. Learn more. Read some of the bible and just strt a personal relationship with God.

If anyone has just now said the prayer to be saved and wants to learn more.. E-mail me @ mauichick280@yahoo.com

thanks

God Bless

Yes! (that is not to say that when God says the "four corners of the earth" that He means the earth is flat, but rather once a true interetation is understood it is all true....including Noah's arc, the parting of the Red Sea, etc.)

I believe it all happened. yes definitely. But I believe firmly that we can not take it and apply it literally to our culture and time We need to make it relevant and bridge the gap between their culture and ours.
