It appears as if it has a ways to go.
Maybe someone will find the book of Jesus hidden in some clay jar in Israel one day and we will all find out what he really meant.
It will probably be in diary format and run something like this:
Jan 22. I was walking today and my cousin John the Baptist grabbed me and dunked me under the water, while I was trying to cross the Jordan. He made a big pronunciation about how I was the Son of God. He is nuts.
Jan 23. Ever since John had his 'episode' some fishermen have been following me around asking me a bunch of questions, its odd.
Feb 2. These guys are ridiculous, they are telling everyone I am the messiah, but I am getting a constant supply of fish, so whatever.
July 18 I met the most beautiful woman today, the scribes were about to stone her for being a prostitute, but I turned them away. I just know she is the one.
December 25 My birthday is only 3 months away, but this whole messiah act is getting old. I am starting to think that it may get me in trouble. The Romans are starting to listen to the Pharisees. That Judas keeps trying to kiss me, gay.
April 2. That's it I'm outta here, things are getting too hectic for me. I'm gonna have one last supper with these fishermen then Magdalene and I are gonna go to Egypt for some time off. I can't wait until the baby is born, I am sure it will be a boy. I am so in Love, if it wasn't for these 'disciples' life would be perfect. Oh well it will be better tomorrow.

The idea that the Bible has not been changed, edited, and tampered with by people is one of the hugest lies that has ever been told.
All one has to do is read a simple translation of the Bible and look at what one finds:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark%2016:9-20;&version=31;
((The most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20.))
The most reliable manuscripts do not contain certain verses that the Bible now contains, which is clear proof for any christian to read, that the New testament has been changed.
This isnt simply a matter of "translations", its a matter of staunch differences in text.
As for those who rejoice about the "dead sea scrolls", then the dead sea scrolls only relate to the old testament, and in reality the old testament pieces found in the dead scrolls are remarkably different then the old testament we have today. Missing verses in books, additional portions which dont exist, and verses which are even moved around and rearranged!

lol. I refuse to believe every little thing in the bible b/c it has been changed so many times!!!! do you really think God would think men are better than women?! please. everybody is equal! i am certain that sexist men rewrote the bible to fulfill their own thoughts! a lot of it is bull! and not just dealing with women. some of the stuff people have told me...yea right. the bible is so messed up, you can say anything and 'prove' it.

that's one good thing about Islam. Our Qur'aan is protected and unchanged for 1400 years. how many times has the Bible been revised i don't know i do know too many. 1400 years! this is truth, just think about how many times the Bible has been change to fit this group and that group within 1400 years! and the Qur'aan stands strong...untouchable because it's protected by God

None! It changes somethimes cause of cultural relevance and Greek/Hebrew study! But it still remians the same. Ask your self is is easier to read the KJV or the CEV. They both say the same things just different language for different times!

Edited?
Wrong word choice.
A word you might wish to use, is:
Translated.
The Dead Sea Scrolls show the Bible has not changed at all from at least 800 B.C, till now.
That means no editing.
However, translating it continues.

Man is fallible God is infallible.
His word supercedes mens thoughts.
The closest translation is the word for word or received text translation found in the KJV of 1611.

translation is quite a bit different than editing. No one edits what God has written.
