Well for starters, He gave me life.
Second, He is GOD - He made the universe and everything in it. Anyone capable of that as only God is, is WORTHY of my respect.
Third, He sacrificed His own Son to pay the penalty for the sins of the entire world, despite the fact that we choose to sin and we don't act the slightest bit grateful. Anyone who would love others who do not show any love or appreciation in return and would love them so much as to offer Himself up in sacrifice to pay for the sins of others when He Himself was innocent of any wrongdoing, is definately worthy of my respect.
Finally, what Has God NOT done to earn my respect? In other words, God is perfect and good. He knows what's best and when we follow His ways and trust Him, things will ALWAYS work out for the best, even if we don't understand how at the time. The simple fact that God is God, He is all-knowing, all-powerful, all-present and He is perfect, makes Him worthy of respect without all the other stuff He has done.

Tough question for me sweetie. I believe there is a God. I have felt His presence when i needed Him. Yet, I have never seen His intervention in my life. Even when I truly needed it. He has comforted me, or I have comforted myself through prayer.
Respect. I believe that He created my soul. I have never seen anything from Him to have gained my respect. It is something that I feel in my heart. I tried to let go, I truly did try. He would never let me go.
I so wish that He would set the record straight here. With all my heart and soul I deny that the bible is anything like God. I have no doubts about that, but I wonder why He allows all this hate, bigotry, and murder to be done is His name. He could speak up and set the record straight if He wanted to.
We will at laST have all the answers after our body dies.

I know this will make many people roll their eyes, but believe me - I have felt His presence! If you go to Him with a humble heart, if you ask Him to show you that He is there, He will! That's what I did, and He responded. Not in words, but in feeling. Peace, love, trust... He has earned my respect, my love, and my obedience by saving me from the life I was living, and through the Blood of His Son, I know I am saved and will see Him in Heaven one day.

He sent his one and only son to earth. He died for us so I live for him. That is worthy a lot of respect. And God made me by himself so what right do I have to disobey him?
And by the way: No man will fear to bow on his knees for the God he loves!!!
