Pandora...I call that "Sweeping the rooms" and I've done it a few times myself. There's nothing left when I'm through with them.

Teaching is at least100 times more important than punishment. I look at misbehavior as an opportunity to parent in a positive manner. I explain why something is not allowed, an give examples of proper actions like using "Good
words" instead of swear words" or asking nicely for a toy instead of just taking it. Children are much smarter than most of us give them credit for.

Well, I used to make them sacrifice animals to me, but that got old so I'm considering which one of them will have to be sacrificed to atone for all the others. Right now, it's looking like the youngest, since he's the one they all love and he never gets into trouble.
My only problem is that I plan to pretend to kill him to make a point, when they see him rise up again in three days, they probably won't buy into it, so I'll have to threaten them that if they don't, I'm going to torture them for eternity.

I should be Parent of the Year for this!

It's not how you punish them but rather when you say your going to punish them, DO IT. I see parents all the time threatening children just to get them to be quieter or listen to them for a second and then they won't do anything. Don't threaten your child. If they act up tell them they are going to get their a$s beat and then do it. Or if you don't approve of beatings then restrict them from doing their favorite things until they learn to behave. And don't give in to their tantrums or give them everything they want. Kids are too spoiled these days and need to be taught respect and to earn what they get.

I take their stuff away. I dont mean just a toy, I mean EVERYTHING but the essentials:
-undearwear, socks, 3 pants, 3 shirts, jacket, sweater, coat, nightcloths,

basic tolietries (no hair gel, body spary, makeup, jewlery, no hair goods, expect maybe a hair tie or two)

And basic foods (no sweets, no juice, no soda, no desserts)

And NO TOYS WHATSOEVER.

Seems harsh, but hey, they want to act up, and what to act "grown" then I will treat them like grown. Mom won't provide NOTHING but the basics...and when they learn to behave, they get their things back, or they earn them with chores..and "buy" them back from me. Much like the real world..

he's nearly 15. We're now at the stage of exasperated sighs and manual labor. I was never into spanking or anything, but even if I was he's got 1.5 feet on me.

I don't punish, they see the consequences themselves in their action when they get burned, or fall down, or electrocuted.

We use strict boundaries with our kids, and obedience is one of them.

From about age 0 to 8, children need to be responsive to their parents for their own safety.

God's point of view is the same. He has a better view of his own children and uses moral boundaries for us to ensure we develop in our best interests.
