and then i say stuff about why he doesnt talk to me and she acts like she doesnt know what i'm talking about.. their talking secretly.. or at least attempting to.. But ..he is really sweet. but he's going through a hard time.. but.. i dont know what to do, i mean all of a sudden he quits talking to me and is talking to my roomate, i dont know what they talk about and i've been e-mailing him asking him whats wrong and why he wont talk, but he never replies. Do i just give up? or what?

Both he, and your roomate are totally disrespecting you. Its childish and rude. Evidently neither of them are mature enough to be honest about whatever is going on.
Girl, do yourself a favor you will be proud of th rest of your life, move on! Pick yourself up and on to the next. Even if you have to bite your tongue or lock your door so you don't do or say something you'll regret. Consider yourself better off not to be involved with either of them anymore. Make some new friends and involve yourslef in some other great activities.
BTW, can you move out? Or, if its your place, can your roomate hit the road?! You have invested 5 months of your valuable life already to this guy and now he evidently feels differently and in the meanest of ways, by slyly chatting with your roomate. Thats awful. he's not worth anymore of your time or energy.
Move onward and upward! Someday (trust me on this one) you will look back and be so thankful, and probably laugh about the whole thing thinking of how you wasted your time with such an idiot. You will have learned from your mistake and have become a much stronger and better person for it!
