Ask a lawyer- I would think that you do have every right to sue- in any 'health' facility unlcleanliness is a health hazard and a huge load of bullshit..
in a mental health place it's even worse, becuase some people are in fragile states of mind, and the idea of lice could drive them ******* crazy..
I'd say sue them. That's just wrong..

I say not to sue the facility. If you were admitted as a patient, I would think that you had issues that were too difficult for you to handle on your own, at that time. You can use RID on your hair, put RID into the washer with your clothing and sheets, and see how you progress in getting rid of the lice. You DO need to keep changing the sheets and your hairbrush must be cleaned well, along with keeping everything very clean as you go along in your day. Facilities that take people in, out of the cold, rain, off the streets, etc., have a very difficult time keeping things like lice totally absent from the facility. For some people this is the ONLY time they DO get cleaned up.
Be sure that you keep washing your hair with the RID, remembering that lice have eggs that will hatch within a couple of weeks, as well. Keep using the RID, or get a prescribed shampoo for the problem.

There is nothing you can do about what happened regarding the lice. To permanently get rid of them use tea tree oil on your scalp and cover with a shower cap for about 30 minutes and then wash you hair with a tea tree oil based shampoo. Wash all your bedding and clothes etc in hot water and add some tea tree oil to the wash water.

When you signed the admission papers perhaps you didn't read the fine print.
The facility is not responsible for any non life threatening conditions or diseases that might have been contracted.
The hospitals protect themselves against simple cleanliness lawsuits.
If your admission papers didn't have that clause then you might have a case;but lawyers will see the case as an inconvenience; not catastrophic.

You can't sue. You would be surprised how many people regularly get lice. Kids get lice at school all of the time! What would you do? Sue the school? NO! It is not there fault it is there, someone brought it in with them. You act like they grow it there!

So you want to spend even more money on a frivolous lawsuit? Were you harmed in any way? Do what the nurse above said. Lice is very common in close quarters.

I doubt a lawyer would even take your case. Unless something catastrophic happened to you to cause you serious injury, there probably won't be anything you can do. But you could always call one and ask!
