My doctor diagnosed me with what you are describing, and hecalled it :
" Social Anxiety Disorder ". It's a type of depression that is easily treated, if you have a good doctor & a mate or partner who will support you in your quest to get better. This form of depression is usually confused with just plain old general anxiety, or extreme nervousness. But, it took me a while before I would say to myself that I had a form of depression, that left untreated could lead to panic attacks in the right circumstances. I am on 2 kinds of medications that are just great, without any side effects I can't deal with. Now I can even go in a mall & even sing a solo in Church. Before, I did not want to go out where other people were. I won't tell you the meds I'm taking, because I am not your doctor. I will say that you can get a lot better, with the right MD & the right meds. GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know but I have experiencing the same as you lately. I used to go out everyday. I had two Jobs, now I'm in disability because I was in a car accident. I avoid people and stay home all day. I don't feel depression! I just feel tired and lazy. I'm doing better with the shades they are wide open right now. I'm able to walk but have pain in my left leg most of the time. I'm already being treated for my injuries. I'm sorry because I didn't answer your questions. I'm just bored and wanted to earn two points.

I just call it a need for privacy however if it is obsessive antisocial type of behavior this could be from clinical depression. Another could be bi-polar disorder.
