Does Westboro Baptist Church (the "God hates f*gs" people) speak for all of mainstream American Christianity?

We all know that the only Bible verse most "Christians" have ever read and ever will read is the gay-bashing one, Lev. 20:13. They use this as justification for saying that homosexuals are evil, that they are abominations, that they are enemies of God, that they are Satan himself, and that it's the duty of all "good" people to destroy them.

They try to hide their true opinion by throwing out that "Love the sinner, hate the sin" line, but that's obvious BS, because they treat the "sinner" as if he/she was the sin incarnate.

One thing you can say for the WBC cult freaks is that they don't pull any punches. I think most Christians agree with them, even though they claim that WBC isn't part of their group. Get real. WBC is doing what most Christians believe has to be done anyway. Who do they think they're kidding?

WBC does not speak for all Christians. I know of several churches that are not at all anti-gay. In fact the King Ave. Methodist church in Columbus, Ohio flies a gay pride flag.

Do most Christians believe homosexuality is wrong? Yes.
Do most Christians not live by the "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" mentality? Yes.
I think Christians tend to be so anti-gay is because they feel it is one of the few sins they have not committed. For example: I cheated on my wife but at least it was with a women.

Christianity is a religion for the sinner. If you have never done wrong you do not need a savior. I think Christianity has been hijacked for centuries by the holier then thou crowd.

Do I think homosexuality is a sin? I honestly do not know. In the long run I do not think it matters that much to God. God does not care what the sin is, as long as the sinner is repentant.

I think that they probably represent the view of Christian fundamentalist or extremists.

Christian liberals more typically believe that the bible is a recording of God's revelations by men. These men (and later translatinoalists) reflected their personal beliefs in their writing either intentionally or unintentionally.

Personally I allow science to help me define/refine my view of God. If he mad the universe and all that is within it, it surely reflects him.

If we believed and enforced all the old testament codes (many of which were civil) we'd have to stone a lot of people. What % of people have affairs... Well at least better enforcement would take care of the overpopulation issue.

they are insane, even perhaps demon-possessed, because no longer something they portray is in any respect Christlike. How chuffed is devil that they declare to be Christians, yet behave with such vicious hatred? It makes genuine Christians look undesirable to something of the global!! they don't care what we are saying, regrettably. Fred Phelps is a violent guy who brainwashed and beat his family members into submission. various of his babies have left the family members fold because of it. Who truly is conscious what is going to take position even as he passes away? perhaps more suitable of the family members would feel free and prevent this loopy, evil habit. Regardless, i'm praying for them that their eyes could properly be opened.
