Can you tell us what the black stuff looks like?
Is is crunchy? Gooey? smelly? powdery? can be so many things you need to get more specific. IF its crunchy looks like dirt and is under the chin its probably dried blood, from skin allergies or fleas, if its gooey or powdery then they ate something they shouldnt have. Mostly if you have potted plants they were eating some dirt and it got wet and gooey. Dont know much more to tell ya.

It is usually a form of feline acne that can be cleaned using a warm, damp washcloth with a small amount of antibacterial soap. Clean the area gently and make sure you gently rinse it well so no soap gets into the mouth. It will clear up with a few cleanings. We've found this to work for many years with many breeds of cats. If it doesn't, you may have to have it checked out with a vet. Good luck!

More than likely it's "feline acne". Cats can get it on their lower chins, it's mainly from plastic cat bowls that aren't kept very, very clean. Switching to a metal bowl can help.

How long has this black stuff been there? It could be something she has eaten! If it is not normal get her to the Vet. Now! It could be her fur? We don't have enough information.
