like what? like dehumanized and stuff. the people i talk to, even though the people i know in jail are nice humans, are always degrading them. its not like everyone is a rapist and a murderer....what about the petty thiefs..they are still humans!

seems most people do not agree with You--But i will tell you that I do agree with you. Naturally there are the hardened criminals that commit murder--rape and things like that==but even those should have a chance to rehabilitate their lives=Due to the fact that most people are ready to knock someone that has gone to prison is the reason there is so much repeated offenders==Try to obtain employment once you have Been arrested and done time in prison--people look at you like you have 2 heads==Guess no one thinks that perhaps this person served his time and wants to become part of society again in the correct way. Maybe he could be an asset to his community. And how about our great Govt. Do they give a x con a break at all--no way=put a fine on someone that they can not pay and then add interest to that ==how can this person ever get out of debt?? impossible==i am not saying do not fine them but at least let them pay off without interest so they can get on with their lives and become good citizens=
so keep thinking the way you do and perhaps you can get more people to thin k the same

We all make choices in our lives everyday. Today I went grocery shopping and I chose to pay for my t-bone steaks instead of tucking them into my purse. I chose to stop at the red lights and use my signal lights. I choose to follow the rules that have been set down by the society I live in.
I think it is a good deterrent that there is a stigma attached to those who have been convicted of criminal offences. It helps people to follow the rules and helps them make choices that will keep them from going to jail. Jail may be dehumanizing but it is there to punish and debatably reform people that are in it and to deter others from going there.
Paul Bernardo the serial rapist and killer apparently was a very nice man to his family and his neighbours.

"Bad is a concept in ethics used to describe undesirable circumstances or events."
People are people, but they are not equal.
Ask yourself why you want to know the answer to that question. Is it because you feel that criminals are treated unfairly and that labeling them continues this cycle? Focus on the issue, not the qualifier.
A rose by any other name would smell just a sweet, and the removal or replacement of the word "bad" will not change the fact that this group has committed an unlawful act.

They may be people but they are still criminals. it is human nature to judge some one by what you have seen. if you don't the good a person has done you can only focus on the bad.

Wait till a "criminal" abducts and rapes your child or steals your identity and makes you spend hundreds of hours and dollars to fix and we will see if you still think that way.

They are not normal people. Normal people function within society's norms.

They broke the law so they are bad and all that. It doesnt matter what law they broke. A crime is a crime period.

There's a reason they are criminals. They commit crimes. Duh. They brake the laws of society. You know things like rape, murder, theft, etc.
