I feed my nine month old female cat about 150 grams of food a day (50 grams each of breakfast, lunch, and dinner). About once a week or so I'll give her Whiskas Temptations Turkey Flavour Treats (don't measure, just use my discretion). Every time I'm in the kitchen, she runs to her bowl and starts meowing like crazy! Any ideas?

My big fatass kitten wil eat and eat and eat until she throws up. Then she will go back for more! I know that it's because I have the kitties on the auto-feeder, but I have 2 cats and I work a lot so I can't be there all the time when they need to be fed.

As far as your cat, I think she has learned taht begging = food. It's super annoying, but the only thing I can suggest is move her bowl out of the kitchen, since you go in there a lot and she doesn't need to pester you. And don't give in to her begging anymore! Just tell her NO! and pick her up and pet her or something.

Yes if you jsut feed them cat food. If you have fish or steak os something- Not often. And they often like schedules, so if you feed the cat once a day around the same time your cat should get used to it.

We feed ours at breakfast and dinner, one third of a cup of Dry food each time and a tablespoon of wet on top for dinner. that keeps her (a smallish cat) healthy and happy.

Most cats will not over eat. I keep a bowl of dry food available 24/7 and when they get their fill they walk away. Call your vet and ask how much she should be eating. At 9 months she is still growing.

Cats can be gluttons. This is because that wild cats have to catch their food in order to eat it, and if they didn't catch anything, they'd go hungry, so when they did have food, they'd eat all they could to get through the tough times. Some cats will literally eat themselves sick -- one of mine eats until she vomits because there's too much in her stomach, then throw it up, then eat her puke and still meow for more. So don't worry, you are not underfeeding your cat, she just doesn't know her limits for what she can eat.

unlike dogs whose instinct is to pig-out (in wild needed to eat as much as they could) cat's usually get "full", got to be careful not to overfeed young cats or kittens who like to eat a lot, they can get diarrhea, then you'd have to withhold food till stops, try having them eat dry Iams or Science Diet, maybe moisten and mix with can
